Ok first is wicki .. gives NP history /altercations etc at previous clubs.. left them at above relegation when his reign there stopped CR almost same squad won the league!

#28 .... quote ....Makes me wonder if NP got what it takes to actually get a team playing well, wasn't it the tactics and setup of Claudio Ranieri that won Leicester the Premiership, with more or less the same bunch of players that got him the sack for poor performances leading to a relegation threat?......Maybe he's good at the infrastructure side of things but lacks finesse when it comes to tactics.......this is the vibe I'm getting.
WICKI would give an insight of past histories

#30 ... quote .... it appears that NP has previous with health issues and if the vibe that I got from RG interview with GT last night has anything to go by, it could be a while if at all of his return..
add health / issues etc to #28 and the picture is [ almost complete ] ...

DELVING = NP has been good to a point, as well as bad, and no smoke without fire ... ugly ... When you read listen to his early interviews he was quite aggressive and [is it the right word?] arrogant with interviewer! ..... last 5 or 6 games as if on tranquilizers!...... !

Wow, you don't half come out with some BS....and bloody rich, coming from someone that quite often has a full on conversation with himself on here..
NB. None of my comments that you've quoted have come from Wiki, just memory..plus, his previous health issues were widely known towards the end of his Watford reign.
The rest of my comments are of what I believe. i.e my opinion!!

see I didnt say you got did get them from Wiki ... I said all his past history is on wiki! completely different gravy to coin a phrase .....

I think we all know, and have a leaning toward the comments you refer to ... health ability past history. That doesnt help BCFC at the present moment, we wish him a speedy recovery and hope it not deep seated. But family / health... health/ family comes first. Third is the affect it has on others /third parties, especially should the "others" be helping with your recovery, or part of a bigger complex.

Wiki doesn't take into account emotions which is what football to fans is all about, it doesn't quote current ability nor does it cover current health issues!! .......and of course health comes first, but truth is....BCFC will continue regardless and needs to know pretty quickly which course of action to take...life goes on as they say..
SL IMO may/willl need to make some tough decisions for the sake of the club......he sits and waits for NP to recover or take action.....either way, a plan is required. Dithering will get us relegated

this is key SL took on NP with the provisio P & S stayed and that was that, it happened. I have said many times the results of the last few games can be sort of disregarded, not gone back to check match day squads BUT I would say we were pretty safe and he had to experiment with the depleted squad!!!
PS falling sick was I believe an opportunity for NP to bring in who he wanted to ...... PS with a quick recovery upsetting the apple cart ... 3 coach's now well 2 coach's and the returning assistant manager. NP has been clear the assistant manager on the touchline he is in the box or in the stands ..... assistant manager gets advice from on high from NP. Now PS and KD can be seen as [ by ] players point of contact / encouragement and respond to them as they have been looking after them for over a year .... all expecting PS to return at some point. They accept KD and CF as touchline contact point, temporarily, and PS returns and gets sha# on! results plummet to 6 losses now in 8.
    JUST HOW GOOD were S & D as coach's? ..

They were ****, look at our performances rather than read the BBC highlights. Since those two arrived it’s been dire ****.
Also for the record, they were not paid that much in the England set up so their combined wages was probably not that high. Ashton went to the FA and asked if we could take one and they said we’ve two. He wanted to replicate Cooper in Swansea.
Why bleat on about them and Pato all the time like we’ve made a mistake. If you watched the games being played you would see that as good as Pato was in certain games he was the opposite in others. His wages would of been in the higher bracket which needed looking at to balance the books.
The other one is Smozie as you like to call him, saying we made a mistake on. Did you know he only played against us due to JCH being banned? Also he played in the same position as Pato and Palmer. So he was never going to get a look in much. And when he did he looked like a fish out of water.

Your "Dead cat bounce" theory is a total contradiction to your beliefs IMO..
Dead cat bounce must be phycological....which says to me, that the players we have, has the ability to perform and up their game when required .....just need the (right) manager to extract it out of them on a regular basis.. :emoticon-0103-cool: Do you not agree? :emoticon-0105-wink:

It could be slightly more scientific 1for. When a new manager arrives, their tactics and style of play is unpredictable (mostly) because they don’t know their players very well. This means that any homework done on the side to-date would be null and void

Still shows they have the ability which ever way you look at it.. if a manager is good, it would be a tactic to use.. make us unpredictable.. unfortunately we have the opposite effect!!

Covid has thrown the human race various curveballs over the last 2 years.

But unfortunately it doesn't disguise the fact that despite the shiny newly revamped stadium, the eventual appointment of a Manager that we finally all thought could lead us to better times in the years to come, we are actually going backwards in most respects, and those in charge of the club show no signs of being in the 21st century or having any contingency plans in place to deal with emergencies.

We've been described over the decades as a backwater/country bumpkins kind of club that's run by idiots, which I've always railed against, but I'm beginning to think the critics are right, we don't have a clue how to achieve success.
And I'm not even sure we want it to start with. Even when the rare chances have come along down the years, we've done the total opposite of what should have been done to get us to a better place.

Absolutely but i do believe the issue over the years have been a lack of funds by previous owners to really take the club forward-until SL pumped his money in. However in my opinion millions have been wasted on crazy signings in his time in charge.

My gut feeling is he has had enough and wants out hence his call for outside investment-however from the outside looking in it does not seem to have materialised.

    No.

Ability, pace, strength etc are a prerequisite.
The final ingredient comes from within which make the best players.
Some players react to a new manager/a new approach but it's transitory.
It's because they're not good enough.

people buy things all the time and never buy something that is foolproof everytime ... same with players ..look good, do very well before catching the eye ... perform substandard ... passed on, and do well! ...

Assume SL? well more than 1 stream of income helps ... additional investment allows for many options ... plans for expanding AG STILL ON HOLD ........

I have thought this for a few years now and said it on here many times. I don't think SL wants to fund the football club anymore, and certainly not to the level to compete in the PL, it simply takes too much money. I think he's getting what he wants for Bristol SPORT through the rugby club at a fraction of the cost. Albeit, they are struggling this season, but still in the top league.

The dream is fading fast and some of the comments on here about us being a bumpkin club are as close to the truth as you can find. Looking back over the years I have been on this site I have said many times that we always appear to be a club in disarray with absolutely no knowledge or desire to go to those higher places our owner makes up in his dreams. If ever there was a time when my support for my boyhood club has finally got the proverbial kick in the nuts - then this is it. Bristol Sport has taken most of the emphasis away from Bristol City FC and sent the scatter gun pellets all over the place with the supporters of the footballing side of the equation getting the flak and apathy. Everyday when I look on the official site there is almost more about women's football than there is on their flagship men's team.

    Foreign crooked money anyone?

looking at one of the other threads I sort of came to a conclusion that the playing field through progression of managers is level at that point in time, but the bumps are through the progress made or lost. ....
BCFC has during the past 8 or so years made massive leaps and bounds in modernization. started with SC getting us out of LGE 1, then out of his depth, [quote ... Other senior figures at the club were also supportive of Cotterill prior to his dismissal, such as club owner Steve Lansdown: "He is the man at the helm to take us forward". ] and replaced, after failing to progress ....

new kid on the block, au fait with modern technology and changes to to training and the next stage of the "modern " game the epitome of which was the 2018/19 season where a draw on the last day and wins for midds v bottom team and derby cty thwarted play off's finishing 8th ... in the midst of Covid was replaced by DH his assistant for many years, another bump "covid" ....

DH did very well until 27th January when 3 pts short of top 6 with a game in hand lost 6 on bounce and was replaced [ club had major injury problems, no money and covid was rife ...!]
    next in line NP ....
NOW another new kid on the block ... reasonable success in previous years sacked from Watford. At this point, now, November 14th 2021, I am wondering whether there is a conflict of "abilities" to embrace the modern techno transition to assisted training / talent spotting and indicative progress of where and how much energy is distributed in training and game time?
Whether the demise of quite a few managers who were always sought after cannot get the results from players "deemed as good enough?" nowadays .....

off top of my head Monk, Hughton, Rowett, Adkins, Campbell, Allardyce, Cook, Harris, Warburton who seem to have a very successful stint of a few seasons but then cant find the restart switch???? to former glory... biggest / bigger one recently has to be Hughton !... sacked but SAME SQUAD pretty much same team starting now romping up the division .... has NP come to realise this modern day scenario .. is he into being guided by techno? or not able to adapt!
