Match Day Thread Preseason games

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by StanDMan, Jul 16, 2017.

  1. That City side made a very talented Spurs side look ordinary.

If City take that form into the new season, they are going to sweep away everyone. The likes of Arsenal and Stoke could well succumb to double-figures.

Spuds only created two clear cut chances in the whole game and one of those was a free kick. Aguero hit the post twice and Jesus never performed any miracles despite having four great chances to turn water into wine. Walker impressed with staunch defending and made some great through balls. How Spurs will miss him, City to come flying out the blocks and will be the team to catch as their match fitness looks ready to go.

Like I said, it means **** all. They beat Real 4-1 too. Does that mean they're going to piss all over them if they meet in the CL?

I should spend more time worrying about your own shower of ****e...

    We won 5-2 mate.

But I agree, pre-season doesn't count for much.

If it happens in the league, then it's time to think something badly needs changing.

We beat PSG 4-2. Does that mean we'd beat them so easily if we meet in the CL?

No, I'm in agreement that Pre-season doesn't count for much.
I just highlighted how easily Spurs were torn apart last night.
Didn't expect you to bite so much to be honest. :)

Didn't expect you to Wum so much over a meaningless game :)

As Bluey said, I'd be happy to lose every pre season game in exchange for 3 points on the opening day.

Yeah pre-season is simply a training exercise.

HIAG can't decide whether pre-season games mean anything.
He ****ed himself into a stupor when PSG handed Spurs victory.
But he wanted to call the city game a 'meaningless friendly' after Spurs got spanked.

They are all completely meaningless. No one is match fit, loads of new players who have never played in that team before, managers experiment with line ups and formations and they are normally played in the blisteringly hot summer heat in super hot places like Singapore and California, plus nothing is at stake.
