Watched MOTD2 this evening, just to do my bi-annual catch up on the Premier League. That's an hour or more I won't get back. Crikey, is it really that boring all the time..? I may have misjudged all this, probably have, but I didn't get all revved up by the football being played. It wasn't all that special, IMO. Yeah Rooney was OK, but even his highlighted stuff was pretty average. Adam Lallana was doing that sort of stuff last week in his sleep, against Leeds. All without the slightest fanfare, of course. Oh, West Bromwich Albion were just bloody mediocre.

Halfway through the Stoke-Chelsea game I turned the TV off, I couldn't stand it anymore. At least my curiosity won't rise again until the new year now.

The bottom of the Premiership has truly got worse and worse, hence why a team coming up from the Championship can stay up with a little momentum, like Stoke or West Brom most recently. People say the gap between the Premier League and the Football League is too huge for any FL team to become a successful Prem team. And for the top half dozen or so in the Prem, that would be the case. they have simply become untouchable...

However, if we went up, I think we have a very good chance to stay up provided we continue to function the way we have done.

Watching the QPR game made me realise the importance of togetherness and team spirit. It's all very well having players like Taraabt who are individually brilliant but don't seem to work to help the team. And look what happened. They got absolutely destroyed by Bolton.

What we have is a group of players who are both individually brilliant and work for each other. We've shown that we won't tolerate players in the Tarabbt mould, such as Puncheon...hard to see how QPR would improve with two pillocks in the most important positions!

i watched stoke chelsea live and thought it was a good game, probably the best 0-0 i've seen in a while

I'm enthralled by the Premier League every week, love it. I watch a lot of foreign football and the Premiership is still my favourite league. Maybe purely for familiarity reasons, but regardless.

There used to be a huge gulf between the top four and the also rans. The gap between the bottom half PL clubs and the Championship clubs was equally vast. That is just no longer the case. I think a combination of huge transfer fees washing through the system and teams playing with a lack of fear has had a big impact. QPR's situation different and is a real shame for their fans. Can you imagine if we went up and only splashed £1.25m as the owners squabbled?

I do always watch motd, tfls and motd2. Do enjoy watching the prem just love all football, except international which I just don't really care about, can't get passionate about it!

I can't help but feel that with all the build-up, the weekend was a bit of an anti-climax. It felt like the most dull opening premiership weekend ever. Only 6 matches on Saturday as well. I know the Spurs v Everton match was postponed, but long gone are the days when every single opening match was 3pm on Saturday - that made it far more exciting than it is now!

The opening weekend was a let down, but in general the quality of the premiership is a lot lower now than it was five years ago. Look at it now and there just are not the stars there any more. Every year it seems we get the 'worst ever' premiership winner, and I don't think that will change. Arsenal and Man Utd both look to be at their weakest for years and Chelsea look like a retirement home. Liverpool and Man City look like the most interesting, but neither are Barcelona are they.

I'm not even sure I want to see Saints there either. I mean, we know most weeks we'll be getting tonked, and paying through the nose for the priviledge of seeing it. Teams should be able to turn down/sell promotion.

I watched the second half of the Chelsea game and all the Manure game. All the squads showed glimpses of quality, I think it's harsh to judge the quality of the League this year after one game. However that argument slightly falls down as anyone who watched El Clasico last night would have seen some b-e-a-utifal footbal form both Madrid and Barca. There's no surprise when the likes of Fabregas, Alonso and Ronaldo hop over to Spain to play. They have well and truly taken over the Premiership in terms of quality. You can't even say they only have two decent sides either, Yes Barca and Madrid are the two best teams but you get teams like Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Athlectic Bilbao and villeral who are always up there and now Malaga are doing a Man City and buying top class players. I seriousily reccomend people who wan't to see some quality football to watch La Liga!

Bilbao are my second favourite team ;)

With the financial incentives available for being in the Premiership, its easy to understand why certain teams will play in a more defensive/boring manner. For teams outside the top 6 in the PL, a title is very unlikely, so therefore it is all about the money. Teams like WBA when they play Man Utd or similar are always going to play it very tight and unadventourus. The nature of the PL means for many teams its about not losing rather than winning. I think that is why a lot of PL games can seem less exciting
