The saying that comes to mind is: 'You don't know what you've got till it's gone.' Another season here wouldn't have done him any harm....but another saying comes to mind: 'You reap, what you sow.' We nurture players and if they can't show their best here, they never will...he wasn't ready for a big money move with the pressure that brings. Tough :)

I'd say he's very lucky he did move when he did, as if he'd had a season like this one with us, no one would be coming in for him. Maybe he's aware that seasons like the one he had for us are the exception rather than the rule. At least he stuck to his word when he said he'd go on strike - just a shame for Liverpool he decided to do it all season. At least he had solid support, with the likes of Adam, Balotelli, Gerrard, and his fellow defenders all proving they're no scabs.

Excuse me....7th is but a number. We are the best side in England...we're just not pot hunters. That's a bit vulgar.
Well, if you are putting it in those terms Fran, then you might as well say we are the ONLY side in England. As you know, as far as I am concerned, the football media could stop talking about every other team and concentrate on Saints and I would only be surprised that they'd taken so long to come to their senses.
However, in my previous post, I was trying to imagine a football world where other teams do exist and are worthy of media comment. I accept that it was a rare moment of fantasy.

Alan Shearer sensation! Sends public message to Mitrovic that if he scores goals he will become a Tyneside hero! No ****, Alan: at his tender age, Mitrovic would not have been aware of that. Isn't that exactly the same message (down to the letter) he is wheeled out to deliver whenever Newcastle sign a striker? Sometimes I think newspapers would be better served having little blank spaces on pages, and just save the labour used to type out stories like that.

Tbf, I find even the Saints highly telegraphed exclusive interviews to be slightly nauseating on occasions, with those easy, obvious questions. When it comes the wider football media, with all the media back-slapping that gets ladled on, I find the vomit reflex to be very close indeed.

Lovren never shows much sense in what he says...this won't go down well. He should have not tried to deflect blame, but to accept some responsibility and say he looks to improve this season. He had only been at Anfield for a little while when he made some comment about not being used to being in charge....who says something daft like that?

So according to the same Personal Trainer I talked about last week. Clyne told him he didn't want to leave Southampton and that he was made to leave due to the board wanting £12m. He is mates with Clyne and has known him for years so doubt the PT is bullshitting now, so I am tempted to say Clyne is a bullshitter?

I could believe the Board saying they wanted 12M now rather than zero next summer.

Reading between the lines, Ron and Les gave Clyne a deadline to sign a new contract and he didn't, presumably because he thought he could hold out for more. Then they called his bluff and sold him. Hardball perhaps, but it shows they can't be messed around.

He must be. The club knew full well that if they got Clyne to sign a new contract he would be worth more 12M next summer - so this idea is ridiculous.

However, what he may have meant was: "I wanted to see out my contract so that I could get a better deal next summer, but Saints wanted rid now for their 12M - rather than nothing later."
