This was Clyne's first contract at Saints, coming from a cash strapped Championship side as a 22 year old (?) ... guessing he was on his first or second pro-contract at Palace, he could have been on under 5k/week (at a stretch maybe??) and we double his money. Consider this as a "basic" salary, without any bonuses, etc, then it could be believable. Not sure about the Liverpool salary though, though if Saints one was correct, he'd have trebled his basic.

Remember the £10k would be basic. I doubt Clyne would talk about bonuses as well.

He was training him for over a year, going to his house etc. You do get close to PT's due to how much time you spend with them.

How is it a smear campaign? If anything it shows we got Clyne for cheap. Which is great.

For me only £10k a week?......no IMO .....3/4 years ago Swindon town were paying one of their midfielders £7k a week in league 1... So for me £10k isn't enough for a premiership player.

£10k before bonuses, it could be closer to £20k with them.
