For all non saints Premier league related business beginning with the Community Shield this afternoon between Manchester City & Arsenal

what is the point of the community shield? do either teams honestly care? bc they wont be fielding their best teams will they?

Chambers will be a good CB I think, and it makes it all the more disappointing when you see us severely lacking one at the moment.

Yes, but he won't be one, week in, week out, at PL level, just yet. And that's what Saints need. CB is a very difficult position indeed for a youngster to play at the highest level.

Sure, I agree with that, but as an interim, he would do a capable job. Mertesacker is temporarily unavailable and so he can fill in. We may have to wait a few weeks until we sign one, if Steau want to wait for the CL qualifiers, and as such we would be left with Yoshida and Hooiveld, who many of us feel aren't up to it.

That's most un-arsenal like. Normally they dominate for the first 20 minutes than, after failing to capitalise, start getting frustrated. That goal wasn't really in the script.

There are players who, without playing regularly, can come in and play very well indeed, and there are players who can't. Yoshida is a slow starter and needs games, but he does have it in him to be a good CB, in my opinion. At the pace of the PL, Jos is just another mistake waiting to happen. For his own good he really should be playing regularly in a top league where the action is just a little bit slower. Of course, the money here is too good to turn down and he's a fine backup providing he isn't playing against pace. Sadly, that doesn't happen often enough in the PL.
