Newcastle United are being sued for £2million by former player Jonas Gutierrez over the way he was treated after a year-long testicular cancer battle.

The Argentine left St James’ Park at the end of last season after the club chose not to offer him a new contract when his estimated £50,000-a-week deal expired.

That came after Gutierrez managed to find a way back into the first team following his fight against cancer.

A bit classless not to offer him at least a 1-yr extension to remove worry whilst he was in recovery, but not sure he has a legal claim. We shall have to wait and see.

Mourinho fined 50K and 1 match suspended for his comments after Southampton game. He won't mind, he did what he intended....distracted everyone from how good we were and how poor Chelsea was.

 

Yep. 50K is a drop in the ocean for him anyway. It deflected the blame onto outside sources and stopped any likelihood of Saints getting proper recognition. He isn't the first to do it and he won't be the last.

 

Not really - has been all over the place how bad Chelsea were, and how he's lost it etc. Didn't work in this instance imo. Bigger picture stuff was discussed, yes - but also quite how badly they were taken to the cleaners. All that suffered was any focus on us, but I think I prefer that anyway.

 

After a win like that, it would have been nice to read analysis of the game...we were lucky in some papers if they even mentioned the goalscorers.

Koeman was asked about the mention that Southampton were 'braced for an approach' and had anyone within the club spoken to him. The answer was no. Perhaps he should write it in blood on the outside of SMS.

Yep. I think he just needs to draw a [blue..?] line under it all and get on with finding out why Chelsea are pants at the moment.
