Not sure Chelsea is a step up on Tottenham...I think he will hold out for a big European club. Chelsea couldn't tempt him surely.

I don't think I'd want any players from Newcastle, as poor a manager as McClaren is, the players have been awful, all season. Even wijnaldum was terrible yesterday.

 

I'm not sure, there are a few I think are better than this season has shown. Wijnaldum, Mbemba and Perez being the main 3, wouldn't be massively surprised if we went for Janmaat aswell as Koeman is supposedly a big fan.

I would be wary of signing anyone from their defence, they've conceded 53 goals in the league so far. (Villa have conceded 55 for a benchmark on awful defences).
Perez an improvement? I'd rather have Long/Austin any day, Pelle isn't first choice if that's the improvement you're referring to

 

We don't tend to buy within the PL....hard to get a bargain.

 

Can't see Wijnaldum staying if they do go down, be too many top flight teams interested, regardless of how long is left on his contract. He also may have some kind of relegation clauses in his contract.
I wanted Mbemba last summer when Newcastle were rumoured to be bidding. Guy is a beast and has everything to be a top top centre back, would be the perfect player to come in as a long term replacement for Jose. He is definitely one who I think is much better than this season is showing.
Perez would be useful, can play wide and is decent through the middle. Would be another good option in the squad.

 

Hence I think we could do better for the price we would have to pay. Mbemba is athletic, tall, powerful yeah, but we've seen that with plenty of CBs in the past who don't have great technique make a load of mistakes and can't read the game. He stood out in newcastles back line plus nobody knows how old he is. I wouldn't be surprised if Perez stayed with Newcastle if they go down.

One of those incidents where I don't care if there was contact or not. The defender deserves to give away the penalty just for his stupidity of diving in where then was absolutely no need to.

Absolutely - idiotic defending - and it was a penalty anyway. Pardew must be absolutely fuming with his team after that.

They have simply managed to do what no other team this season has done (bar the team below them whose name I won't mention), and where Saints come a cropper every single season - and that is maintain consistency. It is blindingly obvious Spurs and Leicester are the sole team in this league with genuine team spirit. At our best last season, up until Christmas, that is what the Saints team felt like. We simply cannot let the transfer window unsettle our team every single season (not that is solely to blame, but it is a big part of our particular club's barrier to even small successes, such as winning Europa qualification games, mainly because of how flexible we can appear in the market).

 

Pardew's run continues. One good season, then a shocking second.
