Good game management by Clattenburg. A warning is sufficient.

But surely rules is rules? I'm all for good game management, but if it's a booking 30 minutes into a game, it's a booking 2 minutes in.

    Inconsistency.

You're never, ever going to get consistency for challenges like that. Different referees different time in the game. Sometimes they will be yellows, sometimes they won't.

Not been the best weekend for referee's. I still maintain that Victor's foul last weekend was a red card, but it isn't half infuriating when you see Shelvey, Westwood and Drinkwater all escape red cards this weekend - all three of which were arguably worse that Vic's.

But you'd be the first to say "a tackle from behind going through the player is a yellow card".

Also known as different referees. Referees aren't robots, they're not going to be consistent for every little thing.

Well yes, but Clattenburg would have done that if that was what happened.

Well that's pretty much what happened. I'm not being difficult Tom, I'm generally supportive of referees and I applaud when they use common sense. But to me, that was a clear yellow card.

I know you're getting it from all fronts as our in house ref, but my inconsistency jibe was with the same ref in the same game.
It's not happened yet, but there will be tackle in this game of a similar type that will see yellow because it's the 38th minute

OK, Toure should have been booked there.

As it happens, both Schneiderlin and Fellaini are players whose promising careers could be said to have stalled since moving to Manchester. Though I seem to recall seeing some stats recently that suggest the Mancs get better results with Morgan in the team, so perhaps this particular Man Utd fan doesn't really understand what he's looking at.

Fair play to Danny Rose. Two hits in the solar plexus in quick succession, and he's just been pushed over or over-balanced 3 times involving the ball, and each time he's popped back up from the ground like a Jack-in-the-Box. Can't fault the enthusiasm

In fairness, by all accounts Morgan was crap against Sunderland, but that's not just him!

    He should come home :)

So, Clattenburg hasn't left his cards in the changing room then!

Missed that. I was so disappointed that it didn't occur in the 38th minute that I went away to see how cheaply I could find a replacement HDD for my present failing 1TB job. Found a 1TB SSHD for £54, so it was worth missing. ;)
