It seems that teams averaging 35 points have still gone down so we have to aim for 36 or higher. I really cannot see us doing that and I also fear that it will need more than 36 to stay up this season. Newcastle have used their money wisely and I suspect have bought their way out of trouble and I also suspect that Everton will now have a surge. Our only hope is that we can keep Watford and Burnley at bay, manage to achieve 36 points and rely on Brentford going into freefall.

Not your fault in the slightest, 1950. And I would like to apologise if I got involved and made things worse.

I tend to agree with all of this - our odds of survival remain slim. But with Newcastle’s signings they’d be extraordinarily lucky for them all to work out - even a 50% hit rate on signings is good. They’ve signed a virtually completely new back line, a striker who has never been prolific, a very young unproven striker and IMO a high risk defensive midfielder. It looks strong, but they need time to gel and not all will work out.

Depends if they gel or whether all the new signings cause disharmony within the squad. I would say that it's only recently that our team has begun to gel after all our signings in the summer. I wonder if Palace might find themselves caught in the relegation mix at the end of the season.

Agree with that. We currently have a squad of 25 players all of whom are fit, so who would we drop if we brought in new players? Instead, we have a gelled squad of players who have won 3 of the last 4 games, have a cup game to get players returning from injury match fit before a home game against Palace. Our future depends on how our players can build on this progress.

Established himself in his national team with his excellent performances for Scotland in Word Cup qualifying, while also doubling his EPL appearances. All but four of his Canary colleagues currently have lower WhoScored ratings.

There are two possible conclusions to be drawn from this. 1) Most of us are under-estimating Gilmour 2) The value of WhoScored ratings is over-estimated.

Actually Gilmour is 8th and not 5th as Robbie suggests. And no surprise to see our captain occupying 2nd position.

Thanks. This is interesting. The WhoScored figures are much closer than I would have imagined to the impressionistic responses from fans on here and social media in general. PLM and Gilmour higher on WhoScored, perhaps.

<ok> Whereas you, quite legitimately, reference the Norwich squad statistics, I was going by the Player stats for the EPL as a whole, as per the link below:

    https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/2...erStatistics/England-Premier-League-2021-2022

The two data sets might be expected to correspond but in fact a restriction is applied in the case of the EPL Player stats, but not the Squad stats, regarding a minimum number of appearances. Currently, Normann, Sorensen and Omobamidele fall short in those terms, so don't appear in the EPL Player stats and hence the discrepancy.

See I think PLM has been quite up and down - some very good (of ineffectual) performances, so I am not totally surprised to see him there.

The interesting thing for me about Gilmour is how that average is reached - if it’s dragged up by a couple of really good performances, then that would reflect my impression of him. A couple of matches he has been excellent.

The other notable thing is how bad those scores are. To survive in this league I think we need a good number of the team at 6.6-6.7 on average and a couple over 7. Work to do.

Your link makes no sense - eg it has Naby Keita with 527 minutes, but not Normann?

I mean fine, exclude those who have only played one or two, but Normann has played a serious chunk of our season and been key.

Sounds like you’re wriggling on goalposts when you just got it wrong.

I see Tzolis is the lowest ranked player in the whole PL on the ten plus games, though.
