Upset The Mags by saying glad they got taken over not us. They seem to think that is sour grapes. It's not. Given the choice of staying in Div2 long term or Saudi money I'd stay in a heartbeat.
Always seems to happen though doesn't it ? A player moves on from little old Norwich and finds the big wild world harder than he thought.
Jamal Lewis is struggling to get into the team at Newcastle. He got a strange red card last night for time wasting on a throw in, in the 36th minute!
Hope the penny doesn't drop elsewhere when we are so dependent on selling to maintain our vision of ourselves as a self-sustaining club. Only Maddison has lived up to his price tag so far.
Though it took a while Murphy is playing well for Newcastle from what I saw. I still think it's very early for Buendia and they are playing him central which he isn't used to at Norwich
Ancellotti bought him and played him, but I'm not sure he's going to feature regularly in Benitez's starting eleven. He's currently being used at RB in Coleman's absence.
That's Rafa's problem. Ben was good enough for Ancelloti. Everton could easily get their money back and probably more if they wanted to sell Godfrey.
I think you’re both right - Godfrey’s versatility is a blessing and a curse for him, depending upon manager. He’s performed well for himself and probably increased in value, but unless he cements a fixed role in a starting XI, he will always be at risk of being benched in favour of specialists and used as injury cover.
Certainly has so far, but as I said to Canary Spring, Benitez appears to have more reservations than Ancellotti. Everton currently have 5 CBs: Ben plus Keane, Mina, Holgate and the youngster Branthwaite; we're yet to see where Ben fits in the pecking order under Benitez.
From the Pinkun Message board: "Cantwell has trained all week, and was training in the days leading up to Burnley so could have been available at a pinch. He will be available to play on Saturday if needed." If true, that increases our options for Brighton.
Today's draw leaves us in a slightly better position as Watford, Burnley and Leeds all lost, the latter to Southampton who were today's winners. Watford were crushed 5-0 at home by Liverpool, their second straight loss. We're now 4 points from safety with Chelsea away next week and Leeds at home after that.
It's interesting that of the 14 PL teams playing yesterday, 8 played with a back 3 and WBs. The exceptions were the biggest clubs like ManCity, ManUtd and Liverpool, although Chelsea deployed a 3-5-2 formation similar to ours.
Manager Steve Bruce has left Newcastle United by mutual consent just 13 days after the Saudi Arabia-backed £305m takeover of the club was completed. The 60-year-old took charge of his 1,000th match as a manager in Sunday's 3-2 defeat by Tottenham - his only game as Magpies boss under the new owners. Well, that's a surprise
I said I would reserve judgement until 12 games into the season . Having played 9 , the next 3 are against Leeds (h) , Brentford (a) and Southampton (h), Lose all 3 , and I really cannot see Farke continuing as Norwich manager. I would argue that we need at least 4 points . I guess it depends how important survival in the Premiership is to the NfC board. The problem with the defeat against Chelsea was the manner in which we lost. We appeared to be a team devoid of confidence, direction and most alarmingly , commitment. . As much as i admire what Farke has been able to achieve in his 4 years at Norwich , I think he has until the Southampton game to turn things round , as long we don't lose to Leeds and give another completely inept performance .
What would getting rid of Farke achieve ? The question for me is what other manager could we attract who could do a better within the parameters DF has be given ?
