Good to see a proponent of maintaining high standards exercising such a high level of diplomacy. Seems to me you have already 'descended to the US level' that you describe by making such an insulting and embarrassing generalisation.
Insulting perhaps, embarrassing not really. Just consider it payback for all the (bad) teeth and (lack of) bath jokes that (most) Americans make about the British.
