    2013/14 Season Moments

Adam Lallanas last minute equalizer at Old Trafford

Goal against this time, as Begovic gets a freak goal at a Windy Britannia

A comprehensive victory against Hull City, including that wonderful solo effort from Lallana

    https://www.premierleague.com/video/single/895985

    Osvaldo’s wonder strike vs City

One of the most enjoyable and high quality games I’ve watched at St Mary’s, a 2-2 draw with Arsenal. Two good teams going toe to toe

    https://www.premierleague.com/video/single/1983592?TAG=On this Day

Hot on the heels of that Arsenal draw, saints continued their form to brush aside Fulham with three well worked goals including that pin point 60 yard pass from Lambert to Rodriguez.

The 2013/14 season was tremendous fun, with a core squad of players who had been with the club since league one, alongside some great young English players and this time probably represented the peak of the bond between supporters and players which I’ve never experienced before as a supporter.
Then it all famously fell apart during the great summer meltdown and we were all left cynical and things would never quite be the same again.

I remember being gutted when Poch left along with a few of our best players. A little while later I was very excited again when this guy arrived.

A very young JWP in the last video. He can leave with my blessing because he gave everything for this club. Not bad for a former Pompey season ticket holder.

Do you think if the board had shown ambition we might have kept Koeman for a while longer?

Not too sure. I think he didn't want to renew his contact which is why he left early. They had backed him pretty well with transfers but whether or not that would of continued who knows?

I was Just thinking how much longer would Poch have stayed if Cortese hadn't been removed. Would he still have gone to Spurs?

I don’t know, he was always destined for bigger things. Maybe a season extra I would guess.

The 'Saint Gaston' summer. The thread was a hell of a ride, but more talking about the feel of that summer in general. The culmination of our ascent back from the brink, all the joy, relief, nerves and hope. All encapsulated in our first, and greatest, transfer saga back in the big time. Felt like we were rubbing shoulders with the big boys (even if really, we knew we'd only get him if none of them wanted him), dreaming big instead of going for tired familiar faces.

Was a great time to be a fan, everyone was just happy to be back, even when we struggled to find our footing there was still a lot of positive energy, still thriving on being underdogs.

I am loving these memories Saintlyhero!

Just thinking ahead to the weekend when I compile the list and the voting begins…. Would you like each of your classic matches included in the list?

(yes is a perfectly okay answer by the way!)

Possibly the best thing I’ve ever seen in an England match.
I’m about the same age as Sir Rickie and watching football in my 30s I never expected I would experience the same kind of aura you get about footballers as a kid, but here is - probably my last action hero, living his dream and unashamedly showing the world what it meant to him.

Thanks Paddy, it’s been such a terrible season, that it’s been nice to look back through the seasons and remember when football was a bit more enjoyable.
You can put them forward, I think a lot of them were already mentioned or elements of the matches mentioned by others

Hindsight proved that Ronald Koeman was exactly the right appointment following the summer exodus, but even though he was a huge name in the sport their were plenty of question marks over his ability as a manager and the majority of the new signings had question marks over whether they could adapt to the premier league.

Koeman led the club through this era of defiance against being bullied by the bigger clubs

Maiden league victory under Koeman at West Ham.

A Huge win against Newcastle, rounded off by an excellent team goal from Schneiderlin

    https://fb.watch/k-pRPecZ-6/

Two goal of the season contenders as Saints beat QPR, one from Charlie Austin in the wrong net and a magnificent striker from Pelle.
I had no memory of Harry Redknapp as QPR manager

    Classic Match 6

    Southampton 8 - 0 Sunderland

A very standout score line in Koemans first season
A bit of luck, some clinical finishing and terrible defending led to what felt like an extraordinary scoreline

Located a YouTube channel with some of the best goals from 2014/15

Clynes strike on the opening day against Liverpool

Clyde again, this time a a screamer in the league cup against Arsenal as saints recorded their first win at Arsenal since 1988

Pelle bangs another long distance strike in the next round of the league cup at Stoke

That Pelle strike at QPR again as why not

Wanyama scores a spectacular goal against Hull

Saints had lost the previous four league games and were in danger of an embarrassing five league defeats in a row - Imagine.
Due to injuries and in order to stop the downturn, Koeman switched to a back three and assembled the smallest midfield ever with Clasie, JWP & a debut for Harrison Reed. Everton couldn’t handle this new look side.

Mane scores from a crazy angel as saints beat the Arsenal again

Tadic gets his top off to celebrate another hoodoo ground victory, this time at Old Trafford

Elia scores a debut double at Newcastle, but sadly it proved a false dawn

Mane scores a late winner at QPR

    Classic Match 7

    Southampton 6 - 1 Aston Villa

Two fantastic strikes from Shane Long and of course the fastest hat trick in premier league history, surely a record never to be broken, even though Sadio wasted time trying to be a Cat!
