Said this before we signed Lovren and VVD. Glad we signed latter in hindsight but wouldn't be surprised if he did it to us one day
Doubt it given he will more than likely be 30+ years old. Strikes are usually before a big career move and he's certainly not going to have a Real/Barcelona type move at 30+ years old.
yeah he's got form. but he's happy for now and get got something out of it now. he could be happy enough but then again he could win a title and be off. btw... salah will be gone aka Suarez but I don't see him biting or going on strike. we've had Suarez and coutinho to deal with going so... well what comes round goes round these days.
It should be in their contracts that if you fail to turn up without good cause then you can be fined the value of your release clause or contract
Doubt wasn't to see any of our current first team go but the club is bigger than any player so if they do want to go, ****'em!
Ah, maybe I'm looking at this wrong. They are acting up because they want to leave the club for whatever reason.
but all have a massive contract they were willing to sign. by law or by clause all football contracts should have a mechanism for payments to be suspended or paid into holding account where players act up in breach of terms. if you have a contract you do your job be it for 50 or 75 or 100 or not 200,000 a WEEK. we all know clubs can be ****s too but thats the way it goes.
I think the main problem lies with the fact that footballers are treated and expect to be treated like other workers However they are not and never will be the same as a lifeguard or a paramedic etc I think it was wenger who likened footballers to slaves and imho he wasn’t far wrong just got the wrong grouping. Footballers are the equivalent of gladiators They are treated exceedingly well but are expected to perform and to serve a club. The clubs are in the ultimate catch 22 situation They can either keep a player who is unhappy or lose a good player and make some income. If a club was to enforce what you said MiTo (which I think is a great idea in principle) I think players would not sign for that club if contract was upheld. Agents would advise their clients to go elsewhere - those feckers are another issue So in the end the club is almost powerless unless laws and work regulations are altered
Still don’t get why United or city aren’t throwing down 70m to Ajax for de ligt instead of going for maguire. Only thing can think of is homegrown quotas?
only one i can think of was blatter used something along those lines when talking about ronaldo at utd and not being allowed to go to real, might be wrong lol
Utd should be fine for HG as off top of my head i assume all these count Jones Smalling Shaw Wan-Bassaka Rashford Lingard Mctominay (sp) Tuanzebe & possibly Perreira (sp) Edit - so like you it also seems a bit weird to me .
I believe they did, not officially of course. Use the media to pose the suggestion, clickbait articles and the like. However de Ligt (or his agent) has only shown interest in CL clubs, mainly Barca, Juve and PSG. In terms of English clubs I think we're the only ones with 'realistic' links and thats purely down to having VvD and forming a pairing at club and Country level.
