I wouldn't read too much into their headlines. I certainly don't pay a lot of attention to Lawro: He has not predicted a defeat for us for 2 years. The City match was a one off against a top rival at their home ground. Historically every one so far in front at New year has always won the title as a team with 54 points after 21 matches. I think if we win the next 2-3 matches (which we should) the title is ours. If we draw any of these then the jitters might start appearing and I'll be slightly less confident.
McNulty is the boss of the football section but Simon Stone is basically their MUFC correspondent when that's really the job of local BBC radio etc. It's just the proximity of OT to media city and the BBC hierarchy okaying the Salford Quays guys using saturation coverage of Utd because they're the biggest club. But they do make their bias obvious on a regular basis.
We must respect them as they only narrowly lost to cheslea before Christmas and drew with arsenal The nice thing about playing brighton is how that side sets up is never going to really have a lot of possession. I see no reason to not expect a 451 formation against us again. Murray is not blessed with pace but will target whover is playing with vvd but won't go near vvd himself if he's any sense. The job for LFC is to score first.... midfield and attack need to do their jobs. As in MANE DONT MISS. If we get a lead then we need to just exploit it. brighton are 13th on 27 points but their home form is their key to this a record of 5-3-2 so far, is good enough for 7th in the home table (as good as spurs in terms of points return (18) This says to me that we need to respect what they've done and can do.... but equally we need the 3 points so have to exploit the possession they will allow us by taking our chances.
so I stopped working at about 9:15am today and haven't started back yet. ooops.. i had a break form my break.
McNulty lists going to the same school as Rooney as one of his proudest achievements. He's an ABL Everton turned Man Utd supporter. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Will Man Utd interim manager pass Tottenham test? Man City 2-1 Liverpool: Champions show substance as well as style in key victory Man City v Liverpool: A game which staggers under weight of its own significance Liverpool have had Premier League near-misses but this time feels different Jose Mourinho sacked: Is former Man Utd boss finished at top level? Mourinho's Time At Man United May Be Over Jose Mourinho: 'Hard to see him at Man Utd next season' Manchester United: Have fans reluctantly accepted their team's 'B-List' status?
The info that was posted a day or two ago (can't remember by whom, sorry) showed that the previous leaders with something around our points haul had a significantly bigger lead over their rivals at the time. We can't put too much faith in the stats because this time it's different. City are only 4 behind, and there's some other lot - forgotten their name - not far behind them. It's much tighter this time around. We just need to keep doing what we've been doing all season - we haven't dropped a point to anyone outside of the top 5, and we need to keep that up.
"Achievement" I went to the same school as Rooney. Or rather he went to the same school as I, since I'm slightly older.
Tbf the likes of Danny Murphy etc also have to kiss Man U's arse if they want to work for the corporation, but it's what it is and gives us a laugh.
I still have a lot of respect for the BBC as an institution, but their football department is pretty rank. As we've mentioned before, I think it's just laziness to a degree - there are too many easy stories on their doorstep - but it's meant to be a national outlet, and shouldn't really act like a local rag.
Yeah but you sell 30 players you have on loan for about 6n each so has no impact on your actual squad. We we end up selling our best players every other year so has a much bigger impact.
last few years we've been selling off some first teamers in order to spend. Sometimes voluntarily (mata, luiz, costa, oscar) and sometimes involuntarily (matic, cech) deffo spent more in the last 10 years as we were still sort of splurging in 2010 etc. I've realised where i got my net spend wrong, earlier in the transfer window we were neck and neck past 5 years, then we splurged 130m on Kepa and Jorginho late in the window. As for Matic, didn't think conte wanted rid of him and his replacement was Bakayoko (who we flogged off after a year, well actually he's on loan). Kante was bought in the first year conte was in charge and he played him and matic together in most games.
I think we need to win prettily. why is everyone acting like we have our backs to the wall all of a sudden?
You've only sold like 4, Sterling Coutinho, Torres and Suarez in the past 10 years. Anyway, the debate was more on the net spend thingy and where the moolah was coming in from. Anyway, because of keps and jorginho chelsea are way behind again
You're right, it would be naive to think that there's been no complaints about the shabby way the football dept is run, but any complaints appear to have fallen on deaf ears. The fat cats of the beeb stayed in London when the move to Media City came about and probably couldn't give a flying one what they do there as long as they get their overinflated wages and get to stay darn sarf.
Yeah, but we didn't have a load of dosh pumped in by a gangster to fast-track us to the level that most clubs spend decades working up to.

Oscar. Didnt he go to a foriegn club still owned somehow by your owner for an over inflated fee? Nothing dodgy about that honest
went to some chinese club. Dunno if Roman was connected in it at all. The figure was stupidly high though
