Rule of confirmatory bias! Everton took points off everyone that mattered and Ipswich took them off Chelsea. In each of those games someone said something along the lines of looking good... And each time the points stuck.
Exactly what I thought Shocking if so This **** really need looking at Brentford on the attack at the time too
Really wouldn't surprise me with Arsenal. 'Dark arts' is a euphemism for their dirty cheating Arteta has installed.
Arteta cracks me up. ‘If Liverpool win every game, which is impossible, we’ll be there to take over’. So only possible for Arsenal then? Does he even realise that he talks utter sh*te?
We are 11-3-0 since the forest game. Arsenal are 6 points down with an extra game played. They have 8-5-2 record The last 10 they have 6-3-1 record and last 5 is 3-2-0 Even if you compare just past 5 games we took have a 3-2-0 record. They have not gained anything back so far. Thry need to start. Our next 10 games. Utd h Forest a Brentford a Ipswich h Bournemouth a Wolves a City a Newcastle h Southampton h Everton h With Everton and likely to be forced in there somewhere so ignore Everton. If we really drive hard for the league then there's plenty of tough games there but only the city and utd games as a top 6 clash. In thst time arsenal have to play spurs, city, utd, Chelsea. And both clubs face forest. So I'd be saying we need to put the foot down now. Ignore spurs league cup and play reserves and go for this league hard right now and put it up to arsenal to keep pace. Lfc have plenty of league winning experience on board to do just this. Plenty of heartbreak 2nd places too. Alisson Vvd Robertson Gravenberch (ajax) Salah Macallister is a big game player Those are the guys to hand your hat on. Konate to come back in hopefully and maybe trent if he is in any way bothered. The rest have to be driven on by those players.
We haven't won anything yet, and we could do without the contract dramas that Edwards and Hughes have allowed to develop, but had you offered me this back in August when the league kicked off I'd have bitten your hand off. And, we actually have players in Virgil, Mo, Trent, Robbo, and Ally who've walked this walk. They've also had the crushing disappointment of getting 90+ points twice and still not winning, but Arsenal are no City.
We should only be fighting for 4th. Arsenal know a "9 point" lead is easily overhauled form this point in the season as they've coughed up more. Arsenal have plenty of good players and can win 10 in a row imo. But will they? They seem to have lost some form of fluency over the past 12 months so it's up to them to chase and us to crack them by going hard and focusing on those next 10 We can set ourselves up for the run in or we can crack ourselves. It's up to us now.
Arsenal have dropped 18 points in the first half of the season so their max is 96 pts. Realistically, even a good run would see them dropping another 8-10 in the second half. A max for them of 88 is being generous, imo - I expect them to end up on about 84 -85. We have 45 with another 60 to play for.
This is all true, but as someone who pointed out that this Arsenal, while good, is no City circa 2019, I think we should also point out that this Liverpool is no Liverpool circa 2019 either. Not yet, anyway.
I'm expecting the winner of the Premier League this season to score under 90 points. This won't be anyone's record season.
We don't know what we are yet, but we do have some previous to go on with Arsenal. I'm making no claims on how we'll fare, just putting some numbers on it to make the measure of the task clearer.
Quite often it's the lack of challenge that means teams don't have to push there. City won the treble on 89 points. They stopped pushing as arsenal cracked and could focus on their cups. Last year they were pushed a bit more and failed in the cl so cracked 90 again. We have been on track for 90. It was far from a classic city dominance season but we still accumulated the points in 2019/20. Even if the most arsenal might get is 85 out of a possible 96 we still have to accumulate the points over the next 10 games that makes them crack. Forget the end point now, we need to set up the run in where we have not given anyone hope. We have no gimmes bar southampton in the next 10 but we can win all of them bar city. Thsts where imo we can set this up or lose it. Next 10 league games will play out prior to cl proper really kicks in. If arsenal are going to crack then we have to put them under that pressure city would.
Yeah I agree totally. Foot to the floor during this period, keep racking up those wins, deflate the chasers and hope they concentrate elsewhere. Last thing we want is some showdown, get it ‘all but done’ asap!!!!!
Or maybe other teams won't give a **** about what you are doing and just concentrate on doing their best to see where it takes them?
