Cost is stupid. Pure profiteering and FA should pick a shirt provider who makes these financially available to all fans, not just the wealthy. Kick Nike out for that reason alone.

Flag is being used as a short hand logo (it's just the cross part). I think it's harmless, although also can get why some people are upset.

If you think of the Nike swoosh they have kits with all sorts of colour swooshes over the year and they were treating the flag like that. That said, I'm sure people could be offended as the flag being used as a logo. I'm probably immune to it. The palm tree from our state flag is used as a gimmick on all sorts of items, recoloured as a logo everywhere. (If you're bored do a Google image search on "south carolina palm tree logo" and see how many results show a white tree on indigo background as is the official flag)

As I said, I think the colouring of the cross is just fun. (It's also not unheard of in British football, you see plenty of Union flags changed to match colour of club... Newcastle often have a black and white Union flag flying from the stands in their games. I've seen claret and blue union flags flown too).

As for comment about changing Italy's flags to Frances colours... Nothing like that is happening here... No one is going to mistake the flag for another country.

As for if Nike changed the US flag, I would expect a similar reaction here. Some people ok with it and others in an uproar. For the record, I have seen plenty of "alternatively coloured" American flags too... Although don't know if any were by Nike .

You see a lot where the flag is black and grey with a blue strip replacing one of the red bars to show support for police, for example.

Fortunately, no Liverpool fans would ever disrespect the Union Flag.

I've got no problem with club flags as above, casual wear clothing, tea towels or anything else messing with the colours of the Union Jack. I've seen loads of stuff with a monochrome Union Jack and it doesn't bother me at all but if you're making a sports kit for a national team then it has to have the flag depicted properly, not upside down or in alternative colours. As I said I don't even watch England, I'm not as patriotic as I maybe used to be. It just strikes me as disrespectful and being controversial for the sake of it.

I do get the distinction between something club level and something national...

But What about the 2012 Olympic shirt? Both miscoloured and abstracted? Was that one problematic too? Who was PM back then, was it Cameron? Anyhow, don't remember a Prime Minister or opposition leader complaining about that one.

    Screenshot_20240322-234517-658.png

UK is unique amongst most countries in that the flag is distinct even when miscoloured so happens a lot. A lot more often than say St. George which is probably why that is more shocking than the Union flag. You see miscoloured UK flags so often they probably blend in and seem natural.

What you do see a lot with other countries is distortions of flags. Like when Nordic countries have the flag on theirs it is shaped weird... Or Croatia with the checks (not same number as flag). Germany had the stretched out and bent flag for a long time. Most countries you can't change the colour and people still know what it is.

    Good for him.

the England senior team won't do it.

I'd turn it inside out even just to make a point.

I think the big difference currently is that there are those who are trying very hard to erase our national identity. This is just another little nibbling away at that. A short while ago, there was an attempt to remove the Union flag from home grown produce because some people found it offensive and 'not inclusive'. I never really cared whether a packet of bacon had a flag on it or not but the minute you're told you can't put it on there is the minute you start to get defensive.

This flag stuff is just another insidious attempt at controlling the masses. (Not the flag on the shirt specifically but trying to control how patriotic you're allowed to be in general).

ajax had an oap on and he was better than mo sissoko who is a complete and utter passenger.

BTW kvarme is 53 or something and another passenger

    it's 0-2 now.

sort of got a lot of possession when their oaps tired after 10mins but they sent on Edgar David's.

a couple or lads are doing alright for their age but sissoko and kvarme are leaving us with 9 in either attack or defence. can't move.
