Even so. They’ve stil been just as good as us in the league. Also is anyone looking at Burnley sheff United Luton forest Everton over in Germany and saying how good the bottom of our league is? Yes we all say our league is incredible etc but every league has good and bad teams and teams in the middle. Bayern aren’t doing an awful lot worse than they normally do every other season. If bayer leverkusen were having a normal season Bayern would be top of the table by 5 points. Not hugely different from any other season. Add in Germany have 2 clubs in the CL quarters, same as us. Had 3 teams get through to the knockouts compared to our 2…
Btw, not specifically saying German lesgue is better or worse or Bayern are better or worse than any club. Just that a lot has been said about Bayern as they’re having a poor season by their own standards, but with just 1 trophy to concentrate on and being in the same form as arsenal, def still a very dangerous team in the CL. Could be a dark horse.
I should this would be extra motivation for them. A Bayern team that wins nothing would go down in history as one of the worst. We discussed this the other week, that you have to go back to the 90s to find a Bayern team that won nothing. Don't think this group of players want to join that. They manage to win the CL and alot of this season will be forgiven by the fans. They win it and the league loss would only be a blip. However I still think it'll be City or Real for the trophy, they're the best squads left in the competition.
TBF, if you lined all the teams in Germany and England up so first play first, second play second, third play this, etc I'm pretty certain the English clubs would come out convincingly victorious. But I get your point
People say the same about England and Spanish leagues over last 10 years. then Madrid went and won the CL 3 times in a row, 4 in 5 years Witt Barca being the winner the other time.
I'd bet my left bollock that the winners of the CL will come from the Arsenal/City/Bayern/Real side of the draw. Whoever emerges from that in the final will stroll it, IMO. I hope that's Arsenal, and they have a titanic, exhausting scrap with City in the semis.
Madrid and Barca winning it didn't mean they had the best League, it meant they had two of the best teams
Which proves the point, not the strength of the league you play in. So my point stands, Bayern have a decent chance in the CL
2.28 in a 1.5 horse race is not good. lfc are playing in a relatively competitive league where a lot of the top half can get a result.
it's this simple. you cannot use a club like bayern or psg to compare their league to the English league. just cannot as they have huge resources and have a 1 horse race situation and will pick apart any rival the second they might emerge. the clubs at the bottom of the German league have tiny budgets compared to the 100mil handout the prem gives its really that simple. the strength of the prem is in the fact that the top half are relatively competitive due to the money involved. we can talk bara and real but the reality is they always have a stranglehold on the money in their league. it's a better league as clubs like atleticonamd seville have fought hard and done well consistently in Europe but they just cannot consistently get anywhere near the two mega money clubs. look at the top 20 revenue clubs on the planet 6 of the top 10 are English. 1 is german whether we believe psg and city have those revenues or are made up is another matter of the top 20 germany have 2 more clubs in dortmund and frankfurt while England also has Newcastle (fake) and West ham. 3 of the top 20 clubs globally are in Germany. 8 are in England. Spain has 3 Italy has 4 all well below the top 10 France has 2 (1 fake) if you look to the top 30 it really gets stark. another 6 English clubs including minnows like Leeds (relegated) Fulham, Palace etc. no German clubs. this is why we can look and applaud leverkusen but should fully expect them to be eaten alive just like Monaco were when they won the French title a few years ago.
Interesting side note, Bayern wont have any fans in the away leg. They have a one match ban for throwing fireworks during their Lazio tie.
about time theres a crack down on more serious offences. I don't suppose roma are going to be given a match ban for their stabbing antics. the single best thing about the europa draw is no lfc fan has to go to Rome.
Reguilón sent off after 5 minutes when he gave away a penalty by pulling a Burnley player back. Silly red card so early in the game
