as we speak man utd debt has topped 1 billion. spurs owe 850 mil plus chelsea is ??? arsenal are over 400mil these are all gross debts so obviously they are all owed some level of short term debts by other clubs on transfers. but the point is all these clubs are spending with abandon. zero need to worry about profit or loss it seems. lfc had to borrow to get past covid and told immediately to hand it right back and get that debt gone. we were at 233 million with half that owed to fsg for the stadium and we mad a pretax profit of 7mil. imo these yanks are using the prem clubs to leverage debt and just buy more sports franchises. it's all to avoid paying tax and instead get more and more assets with the funds. they love having assets and if they never profit they don't care as their net worth goes up and they attract more and more investors like LeBron etc. they'd rather leverage the prem club than sell it. this is why the glaziers have decided to not that 6 billion for man utd. they'd make a profit and have to pay tax. they'd rather just borrow more and buy something else. they actually sent utd to run up debts
incidentally folks do we have a collage of all gakpo's lfc goals? I have an impression 90% of them are tap ins running in at the far stick from about 2 yards just like the equaliser here.
it's still debt that someone has to pay. interestingly arsenal's onwards basically took the lot off the club so now I don't even know who owns the Emirates any more
So I happy if someone doing that Better than not lol I would literally be throwing stuff at the TV shouting for some ****er to follow in lol
yes, forwards must gamble on the zone of most danger. but my question is that he has got 8 goals and 3 assists for us. I can recall 4 that were tap ins. I am wondering if he's actually done anything else for us.
this has 5 of his 8 goals. 2 tap ins off crosses from the right just like the wolves one. 1 curler 2 run in close to goal beating offside and score any more?
To be fair haaland scores 95% of his goals by tapping the ball in and he's apparently the best striker ever to existed.
Well there is that. it's just curiosity as it felt a very familiar type of goal from him. I imagine salah scores a lot on the run behind and nunz scores a lot smashing it
He's definitely got an eye for a run. He's not lightning quick, so must be in the right place at the right time. Something we've not had for a while I think. I do like the lad though, he's got a good all round game.
Yeah same. He’s still new and finding his feet / position. People seem to just expect a prime Firmino from the off, he too wasn’t very convincing to begin but Klopp made him an integral part of a fierce attack
I think gakpo and Jota are similar in that they get most goals poaching in box being right area. Main difference is gakpos better at the link up but neither want to run behind the defende and stretch. it’s why I think have to only play 1 of them alongside Nunez or diaz as thawing both means no one will make those runs behind.
the difference between us playing villa with their high line and just feed trent, feed trent feed trent and when the time was right it's pinged over the top and Saturday was no trent. the good thing was klopp changed formation and we could make something work. that's far better than us playing plan a all game and hoping subs change the flow
was interesting seeing Szob dropped deep from where he practically ran the game . Think we may see that tactic bring used in future .
quality is quality. I'm loving his acquisition more and more. the second I saw him against bayern in preseason it was patently obvious he was head and shoulders above anything else we have. absolute bargain
He's not as quick as Diaz, Nunes and Mo (who is?), but he left Anthony for ****ing dead when he got that 3rd goal (his second) in the 7-0 win at Anfield. I don't think he has their 30-metre pace, but if he needs to run 40-50 meters on the break he seems as quick as any. But, and I don't like to agree with Jenas on anything, he hangs back sometimes at the back of the box, whereas Bobby was always on that 6-metre line whenever needed. That said, we got Bobby a bit older and his first season was bloody iffy, truth be told. I'm sure we bought him as a no10, but Bobby made that centre of a front three his own, and was equally adept at head of a diamond midfield four. Gakpo is developing well at doing that - and he has plenty of time on his side.
can anyone explain what arteta is waffling about with his change the keeper comments? the only time to change a keeper is if they are like David de gea or on the whisky like loris sometimes. I really don't know what he thinks will change in terms of moment if he subbed one keeper for another. your best keeper should be playing anyway so unless he thinks one can play like a midfielder but couldn't save anything but the other is a shot stopper who can't kick the ball. it's quite odd stuff really. I've never rated ramsdale anyway but I don't see all that much difference here on the ground.
