I didn't watch the game, I had Redmen TV on in the background. They do a watchalong which is actually a listenalong. Sounded likeThiago, Salah, Darwin and young Ben Doak had good games. Doak came on and straight away hit the post with a shot. He's going to be some player.

Penalty shootout does sound odd... but it gave them experience under pressure I guess (not that a shootout in a friendly that you've already won is too much pressure)

Think you get an extra point for winning the penalty shootout as it’s some mini league thing.

Just saw the goals. Some decent ones. The pass for Nunez 1st goal, lovely through ball albeit acres of space to run into.

Matip creating the first with a trademark run and lovely final pass.

Nunez compensated for being offside by given the keeper a chance to save it ;)

Lino was at least a yard behind play so should have flagged from a poor angle but prob thought he'd get it wrong.

    It was 100% off.

That nunez pen. That's twice he's hit **** pens like that amd both went in. Certainly not the guy to trust in a pen shootout imo.

I thought he was left-footed till he took one against Derby. <doh>

I certainly liked the way he took that first one. Whatever his shortcomings, pace and strength aren't lacking. We should use him like Rushie, to whom there could be many similarities - people forget that Rushie could trip over the ball at first. He needs to hit the ball earlier like Rushie as well, IMO. Concentrate on hitting the corners of the goal with each foot before the goalie gets set - I don't think Darwin will ever end up being the draw-them-out-and-dink-it-over-them Fowler-type player. imo.

Yeah he's right footed alright but has a thump of a strike off that left.

First goal was pur nunez imo. Lovely.

Second was off but one of those odd hits he does that keepers can't predict.

    Pen was a shocker.

    Carvalhos pen was nice.

No nunez is deffo a pass it to the corner type. That was his benfica breakout season. I think he will do fine personally.

In someways firmino ought to suit him at no 9 and salah as well as both cam run beyond him.

The issue is how to get the ball to either with our midfield as it stands.

Trent to nunez for headers as well... it should be ideal for nunez as it was for mane coming off left.

We have to get back to those types of threats and stop playing trent like a cm of cf or 10 or whatever the tactic is.

I see Southgate has decided that the press has bowed and scraped enough to prove he has support to continue to euro 24.

Pity the fans don't count eh?

Why, who would "the fans" have picked?

I would imagine the players have had some input either to the manager or the FA because they know what they want and how they are used. The fans have no idea what goes on in a national squad.

I would imagine that nobody was given any choice and it was a giant fishing exercise by Southgate to get everyone to lick his balls
