Just started watching the Burnley v Everton highlights. First thing I noticed was the ball was not touching the quadrant white line for the corner kick. Isn’t it about time the linesman’s etc started clamping down on this and also the Premier league should bring in a rule saying the ball can touch the quadrant white line but can’t have any part of the ball over it?

Doesn't have to touch it, just needs it's circumference to overlap it.
This does my ****ing head in though, you say the officials need to clamp down on this when they already do. Why has it become a problem in the last couple of seasons, players used to just put the ball "on" the line or inside it do they now need the extra couplke of inches for their weak legs to make it reach the area.

So far my assertions of Arsenal being nailed on for 4th and Everton never really at risk of relegation are going really well...

Arsenal should still get 4th because, well spursey.
Everton have a really difficult run in (i expect us to help them out at weekend <doh>) and are very good candidates for the drop without a big improvement.

I still think Arsenal will do it - for the reason you say, Spurs are just so inconsistent. I'm surprised at Everton though, they're definitely in the mire down there.
You'll be alright Saturday, they like to roll over for you even if only to piss us off.

    imo its all about heart.

In these relegation fights i think we have seen plenty of examples like west brom or others where they had no heart and the players act out knowing they are gone.

We have also seen loads of examples of clubs who don't really believe but but on a show when the time comes, end up playing like a side who should be top 4 on the very last day before they go down. I think we drew with someone a couple years back like a cardiff or whoever that was "heroic" but we knew damn well a draw was no good for them but they park the bus anyway.

I think Lampard here looks like a man who knows he's made a massive error coming here. His players throwing themselves stupidly into challenges and getting reds rather than running and bursting a gut to play properly and get in good positions. He's talking poorly about how big that burnely game was etc etc and its blown up in his face.

Richarilson looks like a guy who's decided to make himself look a bit better for a move. his agent probably has had a word.

from the outside Burnley are putting a good face out like they are in the game and in control from dyche downwards, they look like this is normal even though its a lot worse than prior seasons.

Those Burnley players fans and manager have all been here before and that experience can be vital. Won’t be panicking when losing or a few points behind as know only takes couple results down bottom for things to dramatically change.

Everton on the other hand, most players will be new to them. Lampard the same and the fans seem to be not getting behind the team in same way Burnley fans will.

I presume players want to get the ball as far away from the bye-line as possible to avoid the delivery swinging out of play.

Agree, they're absolutely bewildered and it seems to have hit home that this isn't just going to all work out in the end... They're ****ed imo with those fixtures

Evertons injury record isn't helping them either but sometimes wonder if some just don't want to be fit enough as half their team now look terrified of the ball .

They've gone through a lot of famous household name managers and supposedly good managers... Who's to say? They need someone with balls who will reform every level of the club

I always roll my eyes when they get the ball... Take five steps forward... Bounce the ball, take another five steps forward... Then take a few steps back and take a run up going well beyond where they had shuffled up to before.

Man CIty finanial doping laid bare

    https://www.spiegel.de/internationa...-state-a-2ad5b586-1d82-4a21-8065-f3c081cd91a4

"Officials in UAE have consistently insisted that ADUG is a purely private company and Mansour’s involvement with the English team is a completely private investment"

    yet....

"Research in the Football Leaks documents has revealed, however, that payments from ADUG to the club were cleared by a state office. According to internal documents, the Executive Affairs Authority (EAA), an Abu Dhabi government agency focused on providing strategic guidance, obviously manages the accounts belonging to ADUG. Agency chief Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the de facto prime minister of Abu Dhabi, is head of the state investment fund and is also chairman of Manchester City. He apparently approved money flows that were controlled by the government before ending up in the accounts of the football team.2

    fake sponsors.

    agents fees paid separately

    under the table payments

dodgy witnesses linked to moneys they denied etc etc etc

man city are the greatest corruption perpetrated on english football. they spend more than everton do on players, just paying lawyers to fend off investigations... and we all know everton's wasteful spending ways.

mean while they won 4 or the last 5 league cups. 3 of the last 4 leagues and of course the odd fa cup.

In many ways they have simply increased thier strangle hold on the game at all levels.

One doper is about to fall (cheslea) when they do the trophies they have won via unrestrained spending (bar a deserved ban) will fall to who? the rest of the league? no to man city as they are doping it massively.

the fact LFC have managed somehow to even be close to have a game at the eithad (where somehow mysteriously the ref and var turn out to be the most anti LFC possible) is a near miracle, no club can sustain miracles year in year out

IMO we coulld easily do away with throw ins and adopt an almost rugby style approach and just put a ball on a spot at the side-line and have a kick in. the issu e then any attacking throw becomes a cross to the box.

a throw is a means to an end of restarting a game when the ball goes out of bounds. I would be happy to remove cards for timewasting at them and remove silly refs taking care over location and simply enforce a time rule where the other team gets the throw if you fail to get it in.

Mind you we put a time limit on keepers and the refs utterly ignore it. they used to only be able to go 4 yards or something and then someone said let then run all ove rhte box but they have x seconds to get shut. utterly ignored by refs. two wrongs don't make aright though.

refs being pedantic plays into timewasters hands. My thoughts lead me to a more equitable solution. Make the players responsible for taking throw at right place and stop refs interfering. if he takes from wrong spot blow up and give opponent the ball. they'd polish their nobs fairly quickly <whistle>

Yeah, and I understand the reason. Refs are told to let the game flow and overlook minor infractions. A keeper holding the ball too long or a throw in not perfect (heck, I've seen plenty of corners recently where the ball wasn't on the right spot).

If keepers stopped the game for every minor infractions it would slow the game. There again, if keepers stopped the game for every minor infractions maybe people would stop deliberately stretching the rules
