yep thats the one but pundits etc never seem bothered by it . Like lots of stuff it has become an accepted football norm like GK's can smash oppo players out the way when coming for a cross with impunity .
You often hear pundits say that a keeper has to come and get the ball and take out anyone - friend or foe - in order to do so. How they square this with the "safety first" aspect of other incidents is beyond me. Imagine saying a CB can come for the ball and legitimately demolish an opponent to get it. Same as shepherding the ball over the bye-line without playing it. Under any other circumstances it's obstruction. The rules have evolved without any attempt at logic or consistency.
yes there are certainly some very odd things that are now part of the game. Goalies having total impunity to nearly kill players, yet if an attacker even jumps to head a ball its a foul. Defenders going further than obstruction and pushing shoving and doing anything bar play fair when shepherding a ball out seems fair yet if a defender jumps in the air and flops about its a free. some players seem to be able now to make a back with impunity, I think robertson did it about 4 times v arsenal. yet if you raise your arms to jump its a yellow or a red if someone jumps into you. my favourite is keepers taking at least a minute or even two to take a goal kick but its very very rare a card comes out. City got one for ederson this weekend, yet if its a side in the bottom half they can do it all game. Its more likely a ref will pick on a full back or keeper from a top 6 side but will totally ignore the lesser side. fair is fair like. how many times it stuart atwell ignore chambers pulling out of players arms on saturday. he never stopped yet the only card given in the whole game was given to gabriel for an act of petuance.
we had a sunday league keeper in our ****housery of a team who always lead with his studs. I sometimes think he missed his calling and should have been a ballerina given how high he could get those studs in the air. I recall on one occasion that someone took offense and a full on 30 man fight broke out. one of ours (striker) got sent off. Our keeper pummelled two of theirs behind the goal where they thought they had him cornered. It was hard to know which fight to join in TBH. As I recall I had to go to the disciplinary hearing and got our lad off on a one match ban as he only hit the other guy ( it was a head butt but didn't mention it) as the other guy stuck his little brother. good times. I can't believe that keepers can't look after themselves. But I cannot see anyone making a rule allowing contact on keepers now. We would be better off making a ruling that says no player make contact a keeper but then address keepers making contact with players aggressively. There's no difference imo between a keeper throwing a punch at a ball and hitting a player than a high boot or an elbow. If a keeper does a player with a high knee it should also be a red card. I am afraid that concussion rules are going to radically change football very shortly. head shots are the next target for safety.
I like the way the headline calls it a "collision". Like saying a kamikaze pilot "collided" with a ship.
I love the way Schumacher shows no remorse whatsoever. Whilst Battiston is lying there on the ground swallowing his own tongue. I'm just surprised none of the French players went to batter him or even remonstrate with the ref. No pen, no foul given. Mental.
Everton winning. Right now the five teams that occupy 4th to 8th are separated by just 2 points. It’s going to be nail biting for some.
We are all chasing Chelsea in the end (until 4th changes hands at least) imo we need 7 wins. The issues leicester had last season are not miles away as they have and barnes out so add in 3rd imo to this conversation. Anything can happen yet.
Agree that Leicester could get dragged into it, they play West Ham next week and have the FA cup semi as a distraction but their run in is not bad.
Well it looks like Everton have ballsed up their shot this evening so Chelsea will be sighing with relief.
It's West ham's turn now. They can go 4th tonight. Even the bbc agree that Leicester are in this https://www.bbc.com/sport/live/foot...6b5d5d0b5e0102e3fc4b10&pinned_post_type=share
Keep it up, at the start of the weekend you were listing all the teams who still had games in hand and you jinxed the lot of them
He's had "personal problems" mate, nothing coming out of the club as to the nature of them but lots of speculation from supporters ranging from women/gangsters and other players. Still got the ability though as he is showing.
