How was that not a pen for sheff United then? Keeper comes out, saves the ball with one foot and smashed into sheff United player shin with his other foot off the ground no where near the ball. Anywhere else on the field and it’s a free kicks and ref/yellow card. Somehow the free kick went the other way?!?
Refs need to start explaining decisions. Someone somewhere has to explain how they’ve come to a decision the Liverpool one is a penalty and the sheff United one isn’t a penalty. I understand they have to be clear and obvious errors but these two incidents couldn’t be more clear and obvious. So what exactly are they seeing? The funny thing is that normally we moan it takes too long but the ref today made the decision barely even after seeing one replay. And I’m not even sure the ref went over to watch the sheff United one today either. When are those in charge going to admit that var doesn’t work at the moment and either look elsewhere or rethink it totally.
Sitting here watching Citeh pass around Arsenal, it just reminds me of how **** this season is. Its not just how bad we playing this season (granted that hasn't helped), but the total lack of atmosphere in stadiums robs the game of everything. All the games just feel like a training exercise, its dull. Its no wonder why a team like Citeh will go on and win the league at a canter this season, they are the most techincally proficient and in these sterlie games thats all you need. It doesn't surprise me that teams that play solid and stick to rigid formations are having some success this season, again the lack of crowds benefit it.
Its not just that imo. City were stung last year same as we were the year before. They've had injuries and covid and fought through everything. We have the title but decided everything is agaisnt us and gave up. City's run is remarkable as despite it all (many injures, a hard start, coivd in squad) they have decided they will win amd that is that. You can tell looking at 3 or 4 last night there was no hunger in us. Mane, firmino, wijnaldum, thaigo are for sure goong throigh mostions.
Helps when you have a first team of Aguero de bruyne sterling mahrez and can rotate them with Bernardo silva foden torres Jesus. they signed Nathan ake in the summer he’s played about 90 minutes for them. They have Laporte on their bench because they spent £50m on Dias. They have 2 first 11s that would easily get into top 4
I think an argument could be made that a huge factor in our lack of success this season has been that we have stuck to a rigid formation all season, regardless of the players available to fit into it. The Bed of Procrustes springs to mind.
Rigid formation as in solid banks, men behind the ball, park the bus etc Rather than rigidly sticking to A Formation
Well, if we're going all Greek Mythology I'm feeling a bit Sisyphus atm. Just when we appear to be getting there it all rolls away and we're back to square one again. Though what we've done to get into Hades in the first place I'm not sure.
We won things and had a great time. Now we have to rebuild again. While its frustrating to watch now it was a great time.
btw anyone see minaminos goal v cheslea. Running in between the cbs, onside but after finally finishing (cool) he taps the southampton badge like it was his boyhood club. nobody i nthe ground to do that for so he can ****ing go do one now. that winds me right up
Can’t see why this should be a big deal. The player showing that he’s happy to be playing for that team and loyal and committed to the cause even though he’s on loan. Many loan players do this.
cos he's an LFC player getting a few games. if he wants to bang the badge like he's a life long saints fan fine but he's dead to me now . Sell him for anything we can get
He’s 26, he was bought in, didn’t impress and he’s been shipped out on loan, hardly suggests his future is at Anfield, so maybe he’s hoping for the move to Saints to be made permanent.
well he's made his feelings clear so we will arrange his move in good time when it suits us i'm sure. I'm not one for fake badge kissing at the best of times by bought in players but to go do it on loan clearly sends a signal at odds with his former perception as a nice lad who worked hard. (now he's just a self serving ****face )
To be fair, while we don't know what goes on behind the scenes, I probably wouldn't blame him if he was miffed with us.
Need a scape goat mate. can you take him to your basement for re-education? you can take ox along with him.
Feel bit bad for him personally, came last January didn't speak any English, then straight into Pandemic and isolated from team mates and family. Probably been difficult for him. Then I remember he is a bit average and probably makes a **** load of money and my feelings go away.
a **** load is relative. Meant to be on 75k per week. I'm sure he also feels hard done by regarding salah's wage. I personally doubt he's on that much buth thats what is going around. if it were 25k i would have thought it realistic. anyway compared to us poor morals he can go do one
