Transition roundabout It;s clearly the club execs/owners who are a disaster. Ole never in a million years should have been given that job
Gareth Southgate on the England number one spot: "That's not been a difficult decision for me. We have some competition for places, but I'd have to say there's nobody I think is challenging seriously at the moment to push him (Pickford) out of that position." What a dick comment. Fair enough if you see Pickford as your first choice but don't say no one it's challenging him ffs. Not only does it **** on the other keepers but it tells Pickford he's going to play regardless of how he performs Only thing I can think is he's trying to motivate other keepers to try harder (like they're not trying already)
In fairness Pickford has never let Southgate down. The current challengers for his shirt aren’t exactly tearing it up at the minutes, with Henderson barely playing & Pope not doing great at Burnley. He seems to keep all his **** ups for us
Mauricio Pochettino was Manchester United first choice manager before "old school boy" idea came in. I am not going to be surprised if they go back to him because Roy Keane is on the throat of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.Perhaps he wants the job too.
I find it hard to believe no other English goalkeeper is good enough to challenge 'in a Pickleford' The lad has some good qualities, he's not a bad keeper, but is far too prone to panic at times which ****s up his decision making
As Tobes said, Pickfords never let England down so understand him being first choice. My issue is about Southgate saying it publicly
All it takes is one ****up that leads to a Int tourney exit and it stays with you the rest of your life, that's how it works in English football unfortunately But fair shout, if's he's never messed up for Engerlund then I see why
I would say England are very close to being a good team. The problem areas are the Goalkeeper, Pickord is **** and the others are rather average. And the CB's, Gomez is good but young and prone to lapses in concentration and he also needs a quality partner, Maguire is utter ****e and as with the backup gks the others are abit average. However the biggest problem is the manage. He's just abit of a wet blanket, I don't see him as being able to inspire anyone and his tactical ability is almost non-existant. Never a backup plan and Plan A is painful and dull. England only made it to the World Cup semis cause they played aload of mid-level teams and they lucked out on some weird corner plan.
True that, the first game of note was the semi final. It's some sort of psychological thing made worse by the media, because some of the teams of the past 20 years had players good enough to win at least one tourney and they win at the underage levels Greece won a Euros..
Far too many issues there, none of which can be resolved by popping into the transfer market (obviously). It's the usual situation for England; got a far quality player's but they seem to be in one area of the pitch. ATM, we're blessed with attacking players but the midfield and defence are poor.
He was at fault for the handball pen last game or one before. Came rushing out, stopped started stopped again let the ball bounce. His **** ups maybe arent as obvious but he’s hardly been great for England b
Id say the midfield is **** as well. And playing 5 at the back you lose any threat that TAA could provide from RB. sterling Sancho Kane is a decent front line. The rest of bang average.
I think we look at the Midfield and say its **** because of the players Southgate keeps picking and then how he plays them. And the back 5 thing is again down to the manager. Its why the biggest thing holding England back is Southgate. He's just not very good. He's used to playing for and then managing 'underdog' teams, so his go to is to be solid and defensive. He's picked 13 defenders in the current squad, sums up where his aims are. Get a good manager in and suddenly England could be better than they show (aside from the GK and CB's)
TBF, I don't tend to watch England games, just catch highlights afterwards. Couldn't recall him making a mistake but could have easily missed it.
