I personally prefer just the 3. More disruptions the worst, although I'm thinking back to the drinks break too, which was sh!t
Yeah. Water bottles might be a good idea in Spain during the hot months, but in January in say Newcastle, they'll need hot water bottles.
It's to protect the players during a very tight fixture list. It will be all the elite teams as well so no disadvantage to the smaller or weaker squads. I think it's a good idea. The water breaks amounted to tactical time outs. I bet the stats on who gained most from them are out there somewhere.
City Line up for the EFL cup Steffen, Walker (C), Garcia, Harwood-Bellis, Rodrigo, Doyle, Foden, Bernabe, Torres, Mahrez, Delap. SUBS | Carson, Ake, Sterling, De Bruyne, Mendy, Nmecha, Palmer. Do they get accused by rivals of disrespecting the cup for playing such a team like we do?
Spurs handed a bye in league cup cos Leyton orient couldn’t field a team due to players having covid. Seems a bit harsh
Maybe they should just have to play the day before one of their European games and just have to field a separate team.... ah wait, suppose that would be unfair and no team should have to do that
I’m not having this excuse. Spurs had a EL this week anyway, and the QF’s of the League Cup aren’t until Christmas week after the 5th round next week, so there was ample opportunity to reschedule this tie and the 5th round tie scheduled for next week.
It’s ridiculous. Orient chairman already saying that will be an incentive for clubs not to test their players for fear will cause them to have to forfeit games. Rightly points out if this was chelsea v spurs and one team tested positive you reckon they’d call the game off? Would be outrage but cos it’s little of orient it’s not biggie.
PL clubs are constantly testing all their players so they can isolate cases. Would you send your employees to go work at Orient without PPE after their multiple positive results? The chairman's comments are a disgrace. Testing is part of his duty of care, not optional.
In that case the EFL should be the ones paying for the tests, or compensating teams that then can’t play the fixture with the loss revenue they are gonna call the game off. At the moment clubs are having to pay for the tests and then if they come back positive calling games off which is costing them more money. How does that makes sense, EFL clubs need all the help they can get at the moment.
It's a shame for Orient but the rules were laid down at the start of the competition. Rule 5.1.1 specifically refers to inability to field a team because of positive Covid tests. If both teams have positive tests and are unable to field a team then the fixture is abandoned.
Cost of doing business. The alternative is his club can't play anyone. To actually say "If I was doing this again I would not do the testing" is a terrible message and if he doesn't apologise for that I would have no sympathy if his club is shut down for good for people's safety.
I don't know how they make money on these fixtures given that its usually gate receipts. Hope they can work out something
So because of natural causes beyond orients control they have to abandon the game? How come West Ham’s game wasn’t cancelled and West game forced to forfeit when 2 of their players and manager tested positive?
