I watched the England game, as I'd already washed my hair this morning and there was no wet paint around. Dire.
Literally not one decent player on the field for us (some are usually better than tonight's showing though)
International football and England in particular is just woeful. Not helped by a terrible manager with a terrible system and selection
I rarely pay attention to England anymore, but these pointless friendlies have only got to be money oriented. They are shambolic. But even saying the unimportant of the match, you'd think they'd try to put on a show, but no 5 at the back, 3 work horses in midfield and hope to get a penalty. We've got a reasonable group of players, i can only assume Southgate is trying to take pressure off the team by lowering expectations so much that no one bothers when they are actually in a tournament.
It’s amazing to think a team that contains Kane, sterling, sancho, TAA would fail to create 1 half decent chance amongst them over course of 180 minutes. How many goals were they involved in for club sides last season? Just horrible watching.
Southgate is a footballing nobody and out of his depth. Unfortunately, it’ll take us another 4 years to realise it.
But thats the problem, failing to play them as they should be played. If we want to play expansive football, then Kane shouldn't play. Sterling and Sancho need another interchangeable player with them with pace, or a Firmino type to feed them both. Trent is probably the most creative player in the team, but doubt he gets forward as much as with us nor will he get the service. Less about play style, but how Pickford continues to get picked is beyond me
Nations league is better than the normal euro qualifiers. Rather than playing San Marino and Andorra we play Denmark and Belgium. At least half decent teams who we can’t beat 8-0 which leads us to claim we’re the best team in Europe and gonna win the tournament.
Well looking at the last two games, I'd be struggling to see that. Nations League was designed to replace the crap friendlies by trying to make them competitive by putting them in a tournament format. I would say Uefa have failed with it. I think people are less interested in the NL than they were in the friendlies
Here's what I did. Checked england team. taa starts. kane starts. Dier starts, tripper starts. didn't bother watching. It doesn't take much brains to see how badly unfit kane was and how tried he was after 60mins v iceland. He was sent out again to this game and a clearly half fit TAA was as well, with tripper at lb??? It was never going to be pretty was it? 0-0 is a fair reflection of that side. chaotic squad, people glamouring for a diver like grealish to come in so the only continuity is that kane must play and sterling must play. No thought to pace and directness really.
