Last 20 minutes where ok, the rest where a dirge. A couple of players looked good, unfortunately didn't see enough of madrids attacking talent until it was to late
Funny watching Madrid tonight, excellent in defence, men behind the ball, very well organised then fluent and dominant in attack some great players that would cause any team an issue. Biggest issue is they can't do both at the same time. How they went from a very organised defence with no attack to a fluid attack but a defence that was all over the place was a sight to see.
The RB goalkeeper is one of our rejects If they do win the CL (RB that is) imagine how gutted Werner is going to be
Premier League scraps winter break because of congested 2020-21 schedule. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53767120
I know his release clause had a date to it but I wonder what could have been achieved if he allowed it to lapse. Would his transfer value have skyrocketed? Anyway he's made his mind up now. We've both moved on.
They're set up to be underdogs, didnt know what to do when they where touted as favourites. 10 men behind the ball will only take you so far, im quite pleased they went out. In saying that rb weren't exactly great, good possibility of them getting a hiding in the next round
They’ve played that way for years, and it’s extremely effective. Not the most exciting to watch though. I thought they’d end up winning that tie once they got level. In fairness the winner was extremely fortuitous.
To be fair, we absolutely battered them in the second leg and should have won had it not been for wastefulness up front (even the attackers still did their job) and Adrian dropping the ultimate disaster class. Put Allison in goals and we'd be through.
Adrian did well deputising for Alisson but picked a bad time to have a night off. I suppose one of the main ways of judging players (defenders in particular) is not how well they can do, but how few mistakes they make.
this was issue with Mig. He’d pull off world class saves and then drop a clanger. Give me a keeper that saves the shots he’s meant to save. If he then gets beaten by worldie then can’t have complaints.
They were much better when they played us....nobody gave them a chance in the press (Quite a few on here were concerned to be fair, most on here were very concerned after the first leg) but they defended and countered very well. I’m pretty sure that being the current champions and the ‘best team in the world’, coupled with what was going on in Madrid at that time motivated them. We wasted lots of chances and Oblak saved everything thrown at him. We would have beaten them easily last night if they played like that....RBL played a high pressing game but they were pretty toothless against them and seemed off the pace. They would probably have been right up for it again if it were us....so you could argue that ‘we were their final’...although we all know that factually that’s not true. Anyway...I expect that RBL team to be picked clean over the coming 12 months, the young CB will be high on the list of many clubs now, if he wasn’t already. I’d take him in a heartbeat.
