Europe 'will never walk alone'

The Liverpool football anthem You'll Never Walk Alone was broadcast by 180 radio stations across Europe this morning, including Slovenia's Val 202.

It's a defiant message of solidarity, as millions are cooped up at home in the coronavirus crisis.

 

I'm not the early riser in our house but the one who is, had it on. Whoever had the idea, if it helped some people, great.

Here's some optimism for those who are that way inclined. For those who aren't, look away now.

La Liga chairman Javier Tebas believes the European leagues should be able to restart by mid May.

 

Meh - is he an expert on epidemiology? What is he basing this belief on, when a global pandemic of this sort has no precedent?
Like I said earlier, we need to just concentrate on getting over the crisis and worry about the football afterwards. At the moment, any talk of dates is just pure guesswork.

 

Of course it's all guesswork and of course football takes a backseat but honestly, I'm looking for glimmers of hope and a bit of positivity with forward planning so finding a few optimistic suggestions even overly optimistic plans such as this one are welcome breaks from the misery of our current actual reality.

None of this is my prediction you understand but one big difference between you and him is he does actually have some power in deciding when games will commence.

 

At this point in time, the point at which he's making that remark, no he doesn't.

 

You can't say that with any certainty whatsoever. He's been in talks with the other leagues, maybe some government officials and if he's been told he can start football at anytime behind closed doors, after a certain date, then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he actually can put a date on it like he has done.

Don't forget Spanish football authorities decided it was okay to send 3,000 fans to Liverpool when they were locked down in their own city. Footballing decisions overrode government advice.

 

I know this is going to sound pompous but you see a lot of overweight nursing staff and i'm sure that having to grab food on the hoof leads to poor dietary choices exacerbated by ,naturally ,people bringing in tins of chocolates etc to thank them . Seriously would try to think of something nice but healthier or even better something they would be really grateful for

like bog roll .

 

Sure if I have chocolate or big rolls, I know which they will prefer.
