Great result, wasn't convincing in normal time. Glad Jerome got one sounded like he was having a stinker.
We couldnt string 2 passes together in the first 90 minutes. One ball went into Crouch's feet all game until he was subbed - didnt look happy. Wilko was subbed 1st half (looked like he was carrying a knock) but he was poor and Whitehead went to LB - shows how thin we are. In reality we were fortunate to be level in the first 90. Although the penalty has bee question there was another 2 that could have been given and their keeper threw the ball into the net of Jones'sheader and in addition to the penalty save, Tommy made a great save to keep us up. We couldnt string 2 passes together and Zaha and their number 20 were running us around - they both looked sharp - although palace were poor in the final 3rd. The goals came on the counter because Palace were pushing rather than Stoke breaking them down. Glad to see Walter started another game and played all game? Happy for him that he got his goals though aftre the Chelsea game.
Interesting comment from the commentator. He said "everybody always asks how would Barcelona get on at the Britannia Stadium on a cold Winters Tuesday night? In short the answer is they would thrash them!!" He was actually comparing Palace to Barcelona. Fair play he was a cockney and a Palace fan, but from all accounts we were seriously poor!
That sounds familiar, after we were knocked out of the league cup (by Swindon I think?) there were loads of reports after the match saying that we made them look like Barcelona, because they kept onto the ball so well, and we were so poor!
Waddo To be honest until extra time, I said on here. It's sounded dire at times. Jimmy G did his best to be kind but also gave Palace credit for "Having a go". Seemed that Palace played very well, just could not finish ie final ball etc. I think?? Pulis must have a word with Ryan too.. HOW many shouts for a pen did they have. Shawx simply can not keep on pulling/holding all the time. Ref's will become more and more aware of it. And, everytime I heard Huth's name this is for Smither's. Did'nt he just hoof it and I mean hoof it anywhere at times? OK if in doubt put it out but not for a corner. I must have heard that six/seven times 2nd half in the space of as many minutes. On to Saturday and WHY does'nt TP start with Jerome and Jones with Walters just behind.? They seemed to improve once Crouch came off... maybe me just seeing the game differently, it's never the same listening on the radio.
We were just very poor in general, no particular player. No passing just hoofing and no direction - very dissapointing.
He looked really down mate and was pretty poor, but I counted 1 pass in 60 minutes that went into his feet and given that Kightly, Ethrington and Walters couldnt pass wind at times it must be pretty frustrating.
Yeh your right, but how many times have we said that about our strikers..... Crouch, Jones, Kitson, Tunny? Anyway, on a seperate not did anyone at the game noticed how quite TP was - his shoulder were down and he didnt seem himself at all?
The weight of the potteries on his shoulders - all his woes are self-inflicted. I'm just an unsympathetic so and so. Feel sorry for the poor sods freezing their wotsits off watching dross. Potts - Walters under the Bridge - brilliant.
