Blackpool is the nearest ground to me at 73 miles, and flew over from the island with a plane full of Blackpool supporters last October, enjoyed some good banter, then spent a lovely day on the prom before heading to Bloomfield Road-- and the rest is well chronicled- I knew I would have to fly back with the same well-oiled tangerine fans on the plane back to the Isle of Man. No hiding place in a plane.
Not quite sure what happened last season- great start and cause for optimism under DM from October until mid-January, then complete loss of form and confidence, until that 8 match unbeaten run. We do seem far more effective when we try to play through teams and not resort to lumping it forward. Against Birmingham our 2 goals were the result of 18 and 20 passes, altering change of direction and increasing options of threat, so that defences are chasing shadows. Whereas if we speculatively. lump the ball forward defenders know where the ball is going. Next season as well as the usual suspects Cardiff, Leicester, Blackpool, Middlesborough, we will have 3 strong ex-premier sdies plus 3 strong promoted sides, we must raise the bar with our own performances, and carry more fear when we attack. I think Adomah, on song, if we still have him, could be the key because although championship sides last season began to sus him out, it took 2 or 3 players to try to nullify his threat. If from his runs he could provide either a finish or produce a tellling pass, it could be lucrative in goals scored. Our results against the top teams were quite good, our results against the bottom 6 were quite good. It is the middle of the table teams with the exception of Leicester, where we didin't perform. Don't think we are consistent enough to be a top 6 team next season, but neither are we a bottom 6.... With the momentum of our last 8 unbeaten games, I'm going for 10th. Lhiats
Out of the 2 Playoff Finals both of the teams I wanted to be promoted (Sheff Utd and Cheltenham) both lost typically ! I know Huddersfield had the 43 game unbeaten run but they draw a lot of games, and if you can take or mark Jordan Rhodes out of their game, they don't have a Plan B Unless they have money to spend I really think will struggle at Championship level and could well be relegation candidates.
Huddersfield wage budget last season 23 million Dean Hoyle owner has spent £60 million in 3 seasons Hes a huge Town fan and sold the card factory for 330million His interest alone will probably pay for 5 players on 10k per week Alan Lee (striker who was on the bench) is on 15 k per week. I think they can afford to spend big
I agree, they have the capacity, support and pedigree not to mention a new-ish stadium to make a real impact next year - I think they will do well...
