I didn't pay any attention to Gerrez's predictions when posting my predictions... copied the list and edited from the source.

Decent predictions, like most of our fans, Lucaaas. I've bolded the only one I'd think unlikely (less than some others' predictions: *cough*G!**cough*). I just think Netherlands and Spain are too close in ability, and Spain are rarely prolific (they dominate possession but rarely thrash decent teams).

So far I'm surprised that so many people rate Ivory Coast over Japan. Japan will surprise some people, as they are a tidy team. No massive names like IC, but they function very well as a team and I think they'll reach the last 16, for sure. ;)

Edit: Ronaldo might be a good shout for top scorer (if he hadn't had an injury scare), but I wouldn't wager on Portugal winning it! You're brave, mate. I like it! <ok>

You've got a point about Spain never thrashing teams, but I think things might be different with a quality striker (Diego Costa) available. Whether he'll be fit for the first game I have no idea but its worth a punt. Plus the Dutch defence and midfield isn't the best. When Vlaar is an undisputed first choice you know it isn't the strongest part of your team!

And I think Japan are a tidy team but also I think their lack of physicality and height will count against them in a game against a really physical team.

As for the Portugal prediction, I just think that if Portugal get out of their group they have quite a decent shot at getting to the semi finals, and from there its all about taking your chances, which they can do with the form player of the world in their team. And obviously if Portugal were to win it then you would expect Ronaldo to get the majority of their goals. Plus its good to go with something different to everyone else! <ok>

Ronaldo has only ever scored 2 World Cup goals against North Korea and some one else poor n 10 appearances.

Compare that with the real Ronaldo who has 15 goals in 19 games or Klose who has 14 in 19 games or even Linekar with 10 in 12.

Too much expectation? Not being able to handle the pressure? Or just unlucky?

Not sure it means that much. Rooney has zero in 2 world cups, Messi has 1 goal in 2 world cups.

Not saying Ronaldo won't score loads this World Cup, just amazing that the 2 best players on the planet have combined stats of 3 goals in 4 World Cup's.

Yeah it is amazing, epsecially when you consider Boupa Diop has 3 goals and has only played in 1 world cup!

Its why if you're thinking of putting money on a top scorer you should probably go with an outside bet like Sanchez, Lukaku, Dzeko etc. or someone similar, who's team might get to the semi finals and the player will be involved in most of their goals. (Even though I've done the complete opposite and gone for one of the favourites <laugh> )

My opinion on this is based on the sides they play for... Frankly Argentina were awful last time out and Portugal historically have never had a striker so are always 4-5-1 with a numpty up top

A crying Ronaldo is my favourite Ronaldo. <badger>

    Bumped. Nearly time. <diva>

Edit: This is interesting in a light-hearted manner. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup-2014/world-cup-2014-ea-sports-3652270

Nice to know I was right about England and Neymar. Quick everyone change their winner to Germany! Apparently, for all those predicting a WC win for Argentina, Argentina don't escape the group stage! <laugh>
