I know mate, I was there and I always believed last season. There is something missing this time. I think we have lost our soul. I hope I am wrong but there is something distinctly not right about Rangers this year. I can't put my finger on it as yet.

I'm worried 9s - you always epitomise the QPR mojo - the undying spirit that always pervades our successes (and failures).

You do seem jaded and annoyed by the whole thing of late. Is it the circus that we've created or the fact that we've built expectation without the previous to back it up? Is it the prospect of broken promises (and the promises have been readily forthcoming)?

I'm still upbeat despite all this. I've been upbeat when we've had nothing and believe, like any supporter of any team should, that each game and season is there for the taking.

Hughes, if nothing else, is renown for teams of fighters and I expect no different. Players that characterise what we want are still there and fighting - the likes of Mackie, Derry, Hill will never give up and neither should we.

It's just most unlike you.... :(

That's a great post Matt, and well worded as always. Last season I honestly felt the team had a togetherness. Especially towards the end.

I now realise I was the purveyor of goodwill from the Liverpool game onwards, and I think it will return from the beginning of October.

From then on we shall be a force to be reckoned with, from this point I can see us scaling the heights. But I feel that we will suffer before we enjoy our success again.

I hope I'm wrong, but let's get September out of the way until I can believe.

( Your going to do a ..I told you so tomorrow evening aren't you? )

No told you so coming from me.

I actually think that fate has worked against us since I think Spurs (with the AVB factor) are the weaker of our next 2 games and playing them at home would give us a much better chance of points.

I suppose it's the classic Rs cliche of doing things the hard way.

I do reckon on an Everton style season with a slow start and barn-storming (not sure who invented that saying) new year.

October onwards would be fine by me.

Barnstorming was a popular form of entertainment in the USA in the 1920s, in which stunt pilots would perform tricks with airplanes, either individually or in groups called a flying circus. Barnstorming was the first major form of civil aviation in the history of flight.[citation needed]

The term barnstormer was also applied to pilots who flew throughout the country selling airplane rides, usually operating from a farmer's field for a day or two before moving on. "Barnstorming season" ran from early spring until after the harvest and county fairs in the fall.

The term barnstorming comes from an earlier American tradition of rural political campaigns.

Nonsense, we're as right as rain.

A good performance and hopefully a win today, the missing back for the Spuds game and a steady march up the table from there on in towards the promised land.

Me too. Can't put my finger on it though. Is it the come down from a truly fantastic summer of sport? Is it the fact that most of the players don't feel like "ours" yet? The atmosphere against Swansea was really subdued imo right from the off....was that the 30degree heat? (Felt like we were waiting for the opening batsmen to come out at 2.55pm!!)
I'm setting off in about 30mins for our usual match ritual of getting autographs for the lad and getting in early to watch the players warm up. I'm really trying to get that old excitement in the tummy going, but it just doesn't feel the same. I am looking forward to the game and I expect everything will feel the same as usual at 3.01pm!!
But at the moment I have to agree with nines....things don't quite feel right!!!!??

I think that and 9s comment about soul are probably on the money.

I reckon it's a time thing and just needs a few small things to click - the new players showing a bit of charm (ie your boy gets a few of their autographs), a match winning display from someone so the season really feels like it's off and running, a few goal celebrations with the fans or even some crunching tackles in today's game.

    Entirely understandable but hopefully temporary.
