I'm a little disturbed by the Wilson/Fraser PR doing the rounds. Been in a few papers about the "mouth watering" prospect of them playing together. If by mouth watering they mean comatose state dribble running down chin, then I get it. Worryingly, though, I think we're being set up to start with that. It's worrying because I don't think ASM, Wilson, Fraser is particularly good. Wilson's no spring chicken, I don't rate Fraser at all, and we're then one player away from welcoming back Wood or Almiron. Sadly, I think the starting line up will be Pope, Trippier, Targett, Schar, Botman, Shelvey, Bruno, Joelinton, ASM, Wilson, Fraser. To be clear, I don't want that to be the starting line up. But I think our bigger targets may end up being late-window purchases (RW, CF, CM) due to price issues, or parked entirely if we start reasonably well.
I think Newcastle and Howe are happy with what they've got for this 1st stage of the plan and I get the feeling they'd ideally like a striker and a rw, but if the right ones don't crop up they'll just not bother. Ultimately the current squad has had 160 million spent on it over 2 windows and they don't have a huge amount to play with, so it's worth thinking about the next window and the next. The current squad is strong enough to compete for top half maybe top 8.
Exactly and as Staveley said herself they had to invest more than they previously intended because they weren't expecting to be in such bad position when it went through. Players will be sold over the 5 years and prices are high. I've based my opinion on the best evidence available, but you've ignored all the evidence and based your assessment on thin air.
You've harped on for months about Staveley saying £250m. Now you're agreeing with what we said about her saying they needed to spend more. So it wasn't thin air. I hereby award you the golden flip flop.
Where have I said anything of the sort? Obviously you're operating in another universe because I have not at any point said that. They had to invest more into January than anticipated... I think you've misunderstood.
Well Wilson is a quality striker in form, and Fraser was good for us last season. Scored some goals, set up some goals, is the only winger we have that can cross. Look up PL assists 3-4 seasons ago and you'll see Fraser was one of the best playmakers in the league statistically. So yes, I wouldn't mind seeing Fraser and Wilson together.
I'm referring to you saying "the current squad has had 160 million spent on it over 2 (1 and quarter) windows", which even you have to admit, leaves £90m over 8 windows so surely you now agree that they were going to spend more than £250m over 10 windows.
The current squad minus Botman was more than good enough for half a season. There's just no great need to buy players atm unless the right ones become available The foundations are laid.
Which is exactly where you're being short sighted. That's 8 to sell players also.. Some of this side will sell for good money within 5 years. I'm going to ask you a question again What evidence do you have that is more reliable than the best evidence available?
This. Don't forget as well that we were **** under Bruce to start with so Eddie now has a full season with that squad.. and will start with all of his talent at his disposal (injuries to Tripps and Wilson hampered us too).
I'll answer it for him You don't have any evidence at all, but it's what you think based on thin air which is your right. All I've done is use the best evidence and might I add said throughout it's what you get and that's more than enough. Why are you so determined for the club to spend more than the amount the owner had told us is available? All you wanted was a club that tries..remember?
True isn't it... I mean if they sign anyone now it should be cherry picks because nufc isn't in a panic.. Its clubs like Manchester United... Let the other clubs panic and see what's left.
This is 100% true. We can sit back and take our time. Once some big moves start to happen.. other players suddenly become available. We have time... we have cash and we have no desperate need so can just sit back and monitor.
It also gives them time to shift on a few players. They can probably recoup 20 to 30 million if they sell Lascelles and 2 or 3 others... Prices are ridiculously high..
