The referee went in the dressing room and told him to shut up

It was hilarious i mean it wasn't just the pen decision and sending off

Cattermole could have had 6 yellows just on his own, conceded a penalty for handball in the penalty area.

    It was astonishing

Thought we were utterly ****e but took the goals well. You lot looked great in midfield if a little blunt up front. Wij looks superb.

Thought the penalty was fair but the red was harsh. It was a silly, unnecessary challenge.

If it was a pen it was a sending off. Colo just shouldn't of given the ref the option. There was no need for it. I do think that it feels like we can't get away with anything at the moment though. We had chances but at the end of the day we lost 3-0 to an absolute shower of sh*te. Carry on like that and we are down.

Take your black and white glasses off for a moment and try to take an objective view of the game, team No1 defended well and took their chances when attacking, team No2 were unable to defend their goal and were not able to take advantage of any of their chances, now decide for yourself which team was which

PS. I am sure the referee's father who was a neighbor of mine in Pennywell would have been very proud of him today

If Newcastle had scored hune would probably have dissallowed it. Terrible day for us everything went against us but as we know it happens.

We will play worse and win and hopefully in march.

The same thing happened to us at West Ham. All over them the first half. Bossed it. Lost the game. You did the same to us. All over us first half, bossed it completely, lost the game. Football can be an absolute twat sometimes.

The penalty - I think it had to be. Absolute stupidity from Colo. No blame to Fletcher (It certainly wasn`t a dive). Colo took him out. If the keeper was coming to collect it, that makes doing what he did even dafter. If the keeper had it covered he didn`t need to do anything at all. He was the last man and gave the ref no choice. He had to go and arguably cost you the game. Madness.

Relegation - I fear for us more than you. Even down to 10 men it took at least two top class saves From Pants to keep us in it. The defensive frailties are there far all to see (and be exploited) and Sam needs to sort it out sharpish or we`re gone. I think your lot will be safe but the key will be Wijnaldrum. If the players around him can play to his strengths (and he stays fit of course) he can be a threat to any team in the league. Cracking player that lad but he can`t do it on his own. Up to McLaren to make it work.

Well, that`s my take on it. There`s some poor teams in this league but for us both to stay up we both need to be beating them. <ok>

    Oh, and we`ve started.

<sorry> completely unable to resist. You know how it is. <devil>

I've watched it several times now and I still don't think it's a penalty. There were at least another 2 challenges of similar nature that went unpunished, of course they were in a different part of the pitch...which of course is normally how things like this go. Never a sending off either, I hope the club appeal, although some on here will be glad to see colo out for 3 games.

A lad opposite me in the pub read out a stat from his phone halfway through the 2nd half

NUFC - no of fouls = 3...2 yellows and a red
SAFC - no of fouls = 12...no cards

    Unbelievable Jeff!

As Shearer said you's need to take your chances, how do you win 6-2 then get flogged by us? <laugh> Good morning Albert! <cheers>

The red card was only appropriate if it was an "Obvious goal scoring opportunity", not sure that I would have called it that, yellow card and penalty would have been the right call, I also don't understand how Cattermole never got booked, also watching Danny Murphy on MOTD2 last saying that Cattermole's left arm block on Gini in the penalty area was just part of the game and keeping a straight face was risible, quite a few ref's would have given that one.

Overall though as I've said earlier I am not upset as I saw far more positives in our performance than the end result dictates, makems are welcome to sit and crow as they are going to have a lot more bad days than us based on the performances yesterday.

Spot on - for the first 45 mins we where laughing all the way to the three points probably the best football we have played and the evidence is there we are coming along now, Sunderland on the other hand will be worried, with out the refs intervention yesterday they were awful, so bad you'd have to put money on them to go down Allardyce will want to defend his way out of the relegation zone but they don't have the players for it.

Hope the club appeal Colo's red as I think it will be overturned (ref was obviously swayed by the fans for the majority of major decisions yesterday - atrocious) but Colo was daft to give him the decision to make.

Colo's red card has been appealed

Fabricio Coloccini: Newcastle contest defender's red card
Newcastle United have appealed to the Football Association over the red card given to Fabricio Coloccini during Sunday's 3-0 defeat by Sunderland.

The 33-year-old was sent off just before half-time for denying Steven Fletcher a clear goalscoring opportunity, resulting in a penalty.

A Regulatory Commission will hear the appeal on Tuesday afternoon.

If the dismissal stands, the defender will miss Newcastle's home game with Stoke on Saturday.

Coloccini's dismissal was a key moment in Sunday's derby - the sixth in succession that Sunderland have won against their local rivals.

Just to clear this up there is nothing positive in losing 3-0 to the neighbours and probable fellow relegation battle candidates AGAIN! We definitely did not have the run of the green, a pen and a red is very harsh but Colo should not have been in a position to give that away. At the moment play well or not means absolutely F.A. We need points on the board. Especially against our direct rivals.

    I hope it is rescinded.
That Ref looked all over the place and I feel for the next victim of his rash officiating.
