Yep on a steady/dramatic decline with ill feeling growing. Think we were 11th or 12th with a 6-9 point gap to bottom three (might have been yourselves?) Impossible to say either way what would have happened. I've got two balls, neither of them crystal. But I reckon we would have been right in the mix as our form was teetering on pathetic and the football barbaric. Correct decision all day long as it wasn't what the paying public wanted. Plenty of teams get to mid season looking comfortable and find themselves in the mire in May too. Each to their own of course and he is entitled to his philosophy. It was just a bad appointment to a club with a polar opposite ethos of how football is meant to be played. It had car crash written all over it.
