Well after that shambles I can only think Bulut wants to spring a surprise on Leeds by actually playing our best 11.
Watched the game on CCTV. Decent control of the ball but little to nothing at the sharp end. Pretty solid at the back - I really like Goutas and to be fair, Simpson did OK until he took that free kick in the face and went off with concussion. Ramsey is obvious class and will have a big influence this season. Something has to be done up front - where have we heard that before? Ugbo doesn't appear to be the answer in the middle and although Ojo was better today, he lacks any sort of pace out wide. Grant could be the answer on the left with linking up with O'Dowda and Ramsey, but the right hand side with Ojo and Romeo is very pedestrian. Some big decisions for Bulut ahead of next Sunday's opener at Leeds. He must start Ramsey and Robbo for that one - leave Ugbo on the bench.
Bulut better have a good plan after wasting the chance to play the best 11 for most of todays game, I have no idea who the starting 11 will be despite knowing the best players..
Only saw the extended highlights on City web site. The lack of on goal efforts is a big concern. City need a decent striker. Ugbo & Etete just don’t convince at all.
Pre-season has been poor. We were a squad who were bottom 3 last season and lost Kipre , Kaba and Philogene. We are relying heavily on Ramsey at the moment.
Injury issues reported. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/seven-cardiff-city-players-face-27426388 The worrying one may be Miette. City have an issue with buying players with injury issues - Vassell immediately comes to mind - so it was assumed when undergoing his medical the City medics were satisfied. He had injury issues at Reading and now he’s injured again. Maybe it’s only a niggling injury but it’s not a good start to his City career.
I am more worried about our physios, last season most of the injured never returned early if at all. Take Vassell, out injured for 3 years but was on the pitch talking to a mate from Huddersfield then chatting away on Sky. I have no idea what this long term injury was but he should have been in a care home if it was that bad.
Tis a worry. Colwill is made of china. Signings with a history of injury always a risk. We've had enough of them recently. Maybe a couple youngsters will need to front up earlier than expected. You do wonder about training methods, warm ups, recovery, etc.
The training methods last year nearly got us relegated, we could hardly be worse off if the players stopped training.
