From paddy Davitt
[HASHTAG]#ncfc[/HASHTAG] AN tells me Jarvis has undergone knee ligament surgery. Same knee as last season. 2 to 3 months out

[HASHTAG]#ncfc[/HASHTAG] AN also confirms Jake Kean set to leave the club. According to reports [HASHTAG]#sheffweds[/HASHTAG] bound. Which leaves him with 2 senior keepers

That's bad news about Jarvis. We may see more of the Murphys than we thought. I wonder if Kean leaving might mean McGovern is coming in.

You have to have a player subscription to see it DD and I thought that was well publicised by KIO. Come to think of it, that was on the Pink'un board. Sorry about that, I'll try to do better next time! :emoticon-0120-doh:
My 2nd faux pas of the day I can't apologise enough.<yikes>

Having watched both games on Posh's Player, the first was much tighter. RvW had a good header deflected wide by the keeper and there were some good chances before Josh slipped through and chipped the advancing keeper for an excellent goal. Naismith was the hub as he found space and exploited it well with some excellent passing. Mulumbu was also very lively going box to box and Klose and Bennett looked solid in defence. Josh was the pick of the younger players but Effete looked good at LB as well.

The second game was more upbeat as City dominated from the start. It was my first glimpse of Maddison and I was impressed. He was poised and provided the hub for attacks, but it took some time for him to link-up effectively with Jerome. In the end, it was Jacob who did that and it was his shot that the keeper could only parry and Jerome pounced on it to score. Jacob then provided an excellent curling cross that Jerome was only inches away from at the far post. To top it off, Jacob scored the final goal with an excellent header from Maddison's corner. Turner and Bassong were solid in defence and Tettey and Thompson paired up well in front of them. Toffolo should have had a penalty when he was shoved from behind when clean through on the keeper.

Three goals by the three J's (Josh, Jerome and Jacob), clean sheets for Ruddy and Rudd, and some promising performances from the young guns. Good stuff indeed.
Great review mate!

Glad to hear Effete looked good, but I thought he was mainly a right wing-back? Great to hear he impressed at LB.

Also great to hear Maddison looks like the player we are lead to believe he is.

As for the Murphy's I've already had my say and expressed my joy! Did Toffolo play? And did he look competent?

Certainly, based on that performance I think both Murphys will be in the squad this season. They have both matured big-time from their loans last year and given that Jarvis has just had knee surgery and will be out for 2-3 months, their time has come. Maddison is a composed player with some very neat touches and what seems to be good vision, but he still looks a young player compared to the Murphys. Both Toffolo and Thompson looked solid and like I said Toffolo should have had a penalty when clean through on the keeper. Thompson teamed up well with Tettey (who looked very composed throughtout) and I think both of them could make the squad this year. I could see Efete as a WB but he defended well too. He also got into a very good position for a close-in header that unfortunately went over the bar. Hope that helps mate!

Looking at Woodbine's goals clip again, what a fantastic long pass that was from Bennett for Josh to run on and score. Shades of Ian Crook for the oldies here, David Fox for those a bit younger.

And we've not really had anyone like that since Fox left. Maybe, to accommodate Maddison, we should deploy Wes in that deep Ian Crook, sweeper role? :emoticon-0112-wonde
