Is there any point playing the "safe ball" back to Ruddy? Just find row Z and cut out the middle man.
So quick summary of a reasonably poor performance, certainly in the defensive half. The good: Wes, Olsson, Dorrans The bad: Naismith The ugly: Ruddy, Whittaker Pretty indifferent about everyone else really. For me, the side for our first league game should be: McGovern Pinto Bennett Klose Olsson Dorrans Tettey Howson Wessi Brady/Murphy And then probably Ruddy up front as he threatened the goal more than Jerome, Naismith or Lafferty.
Just seen the 'highlights' and the Hannover second just gets worse every time you see it. Other than Whittaker chasing down his man, we still had 4 men in the box who all failed to spot the obvious target. Their third could easily be given as a Pinto O.G too.
The other pre-season game today was an U23 side away at Dartford, which they won 2-0 with goals from Canos and Morris. Side: Oxborough, Ramsay (Lewis), Efete, Grant (c) (Crowe), Turner, Godfrey, Canos, Thompson, Morris (Jaiyesimi), Cantwell (Adams), Hoope. Neil reckons it was important to get Canos minutes, I'm somewhat surprised he didn't think he could do that against Hannover, probably starting ahead of Jacob Murphy. Would have thought developing understandings with his new team-mates would be important, but never mind. Perhaps gives an insight into where Canos is rated in comparison to the Murphy's?
Did Ruddy play the entire game? . Saw the last 20 mins and highlights all 3 goals against were reminiscent of the last few years but Wes seems to be on fire since the Euros. Not too bothered it's only a friendly.
I don't like to place blame on individuals but he's absolute dogshit now. I would rather spend £5m on Angus Gunn and release Ruddy
I'm really glad I was out yesterday afternoon and night. Just read through the comments on this thread. That was hard reading, must have been a real a*se ache to sit through.
Have to agree FML and I was cooking a BBQ for a group of friends. I'm pleased I went to see the Coventry game instead. ☺
By the sounds of it, even if we get McCormack, we need another striker. Forest have said they don't want to sell Britt. I think it's well worth going back with a substantial bid.Test their resolve. It's also really worrying that no links or rumors what so ever about a CB. I can't even think of people we should target. Dunk at Brighton maybe, apart from that, Who else is in our reach? RB it looks like AN has made his bed, he's going with Whittless and Pinto. So we will always have a weak area down the right for the opposition to exploit. Left is alright if we keep Brady and Olsson. Bennett and Klose could come good together, but I don't count on either being injury free all season. Big worry that it still looks like AN can't get his sides to defend as a team. Or show team organisation. Did AN get asked or give an answer to why Brady and Canos weren't involved?
Dire 1st half, much improved 2nd. "Highlight' apart from Wessi's brace, was Whittaker trying to play a pass down the line with the outside of his left foot but just mullered it into the South Stand!!
From Neil's post match interview, we're at a fairly advanced stage of negotiations with McCormack and two others. Could potentially sign 2-3 players this week. Who the others are I've no idea, rumours have been thin on the ground. Unfortunately I'm not expecting a CB. Brady had a calf injury, Canos played and scored in the U23 game at Dartford instead. Neil was keen for him to get minutes.
