Some notable omissions, including Wanyama, Vertonghen, Yedlin, Chadli, Onomah and Ball.

Has Tom Carroll signed a new contract or is he now playing for us out of the goodness of his heart?

Worrying that Wanyama and Onomah are omitted, especially the former as he's going to be expected to start in our first four league games (at least), hoping it's just tactical and neither are injured. Yedlin and Chadli are on the fringes so maybe Yedlin's being lined up for another loan(?), while I think Chadli could be nearing the exit door. Vertonghen is understandable as despite returning to light training he's still probably weeks away from being able to play. Ball probably misses out because Walkes looked the better of the two in the games with Juve & Atleti, so Poch may feel only one of them is needed to travel for this one.

There was some talk of him having a year's extension clause activated, but I've not seen anything official.

Oslo line-up seems to be consistent with having the likely PL starting XIs ready to go.
Wanyama etc have probably been deemed ready to go irrespective of this game.

I think there is a poblem with Wanyama's visa. I believe the player himself has said this publicly today.

Wanyama didn't travel due to a visa issue, as the man himself explained on Twitter...

In terms of those who didn't travel, the more interesting names left off are N'Jie and Bentaleb: N'Jie because it confirms that maybe, just maybe, he'll be headed to Marseilles while Nkoudou might actually head our way sometime before the Rapture, while Bentaleb not traveling pretty much confirms he'll be headed to newer pastures.

In terms of Ball, it wouldn't surprise me that the reason he didn't travel came down to simple arithmetic: Toby and Big Kev are the likely starters, CCV is the obvious option on the bench, and when it boils down to it Walkes made more of his opportunity in Australia than Ball did so he gets another chance - either as a utility defender, or to play DMF if we move Dier into central defence.

Will be interesting to see how CCV slots into our strongest back line.

Quite a vote of confidence for the youngster.
That or a final test before deciding whether we need to bring another defender in.

strange decision i think. Surely Wimmer will start in the PL so him and Toby need some time together pre-season
