Should have google mapped it before making myself look like a tit......anyway, the port bit of Jakarta was a dump. Liked Yogjakarta, Samosir in Sumatra and Bali in the early 80s before the Aussies and package tours took over.....
Don't know North Jakarta that well as most of the time I spent there was either in central Jalan Jenderal Sudirman or down in Depok where the big national University is. From what I saw it's one of the few parts that have still some Dutch legacy in the buildings. Ugly and polluted city with the world's worst monument: "Monas" also known as Sukarno's last erection. Yes, it really does represent an erect penis! Don't have a good opinion of Indonesia tbh, too much racism against Chinese people and an obsession with women having the lightest skin colour possible. No dark skinned Indonesians on TV etc.
