What the hell is hapenning there??? Havent we have money enough to buy just one decent striker....???
****ing hell the panic and angst is setting in early this year. It’s preseason. We won’t be sacking anyone until November, earliest. Cool your boots.
isn't this the time that MW starts to try to improve the teams fitness levels. He has brought in a number of new players so although I am disappointed to lose to a non league side, I would rather get the dodgy performances out of the way in fitness improving games. Mackie will no doubt score for Oxford against us however I do not expect him to celebrate...and too be honest if we had a team with the attitude of him and his aim to give 100% then we will be alright come next May. What he lacks in ability and application (final pass or scoring) he makes up for in heart and wanting to win.
Couldn’t agree more. However, it sounds like we are trying this passing out from the back nonsense we tried at the start of last season. I’d really rather we sacked that off before Stoke.
I thought it was very clear we need a striker. It was good to see some football, I’m not worried about the score.
Playing out from the back is fine if you have players that are capable of it. These tend not to be playing in the Championship.
This Offy interview by Mark Warburton is quite detailed and well worth a watch and listen. https://www.qpr.co.uk/videos/interviews/warburton-reacts-to-boreham-wood-defeat/
Unlike you to be so cynical Os Chill lads it's preseason I'm not bothered about winning or losing at the moment....as long as there's a style being worked on, plan A, B,C whatever and players are getting match fit, that's all that matters.... Besides it's still summer and we've the Aussies to thrash yet...
Shipping goals and losing to a non league side that must be 50 odd places down the pecking order from us makes it hard to derive much positivity. We need strikers I know, but based on the friendly game results it seems we ain’t defending too well either.
I agree about the striker situation but I definitely am worried about the score. Friendlies are never meaningless in any way shape or form and the result should be a progression of what you've been trying to achieve and working for in training.
From all I've heard Warburton only does Plan A, if it doesn't work they need to do the same but better. I hope he's become more flexible.
Need wins in these games. Wins breed confidence and a winning mentality. Negative results will do the opposite, so hopefully we can turn it around against Oxford. Although you can argue it's about fitness and the team is only just coming together, it was pretty much the same for the opposition and we are supposed to be the superior Championship side. Feels like a cup game result Positive - showcased just how desperate we are for a striker or two. Hopefully will lead to a signing!
