Read that Luke Berry (Cambridge Utd) would be available to start against Scunny but he's still at Cambridge and not heard any other mention elsewhere.

According to an article in the Evening post DC is talking to a number of players but doesn't expect anything to happen this week, one of the names mentioned is McBurnie from Swansea on a season long loan

The Post have put what they think are "realistic" options to replace Taylor if he goes....

What are the (realistic) options currently available that may be up to the job of replacing a terrace favourite who has scored 46 goals in 86 starts since arriving on a free transfer from Forest Green Rovers in the summer of 2014?

    Here are 3.

    1. Luke James from Peterborough
Darrell Clarke is a confirmed admirer of the 21-year-old who secured a £1 million move to Peterborough United when still a teenager in 2014 after scoring 19 goals in 90 games for hometown club Hartlepool United. Made his debut as a 17-year-old and became the club's youngest ever goalscorer when grabbing a goal against Rochdale in January 2012. James starred for Hartlepool when scoring twice for Hartlepool in a 2-2 draw against Rovers at the Memorial Stadium in September 2013 and was soon on the radar of several Championship clubs. Scored on debut for Peterborough, but has only managed one more in 31 appearances since. Has been out of favour of late and spent the whole of last season on loan at Bradford City and Hartlepool United.
Post verdict: A decent player who seems to have lost his way. If Peterborough decide to cut their losses, expect Darrell Clarke to show an interest.

    2. Lyle Taylor from Wimbledon
Having played for seven clubs by the age of 26, Taylor is much-travelled but seems to have found a home from home at Kingsmeadow. Was a lively presence in the two matches contested between Rovers and Wimbledon last term and completed the season by scoring the opening goal in the play-off final victory over Plymouth Argyle. Taylor scored 23 times in 46 games for Wimbledon last season and is believed to be highly-coveted by several Championship and League One clubs. Having signed for Wimbledon last summer, Taylor remains under contract at AFC Wimbledon until the end of next season so would command a transfer fee.
Post verdict: Looked excellent in both games against Rovers last season, but has another year on his contract. Wimbledon may decide to start season with him and then look to cash out in January. If Wimbledon decide it is too risky to wait expect a bidding war that may see Rovers priced out.

    3. Simon Cox from Reading
A goal poacher of the highest standing during his time at Swindon Town where he scored 43 goals in 81 games and shared the Golden Boot with Rickie Lambert in 2008/09. Secured a big money move to West Bromwich Albion in the summer that followed and went on to win 30 caps for the Republic of Ireland. Failed to nail down a regular place after West Brom were promoted to the Premier League and joined Nottingham Forest for £2 million after featuring at the European Championships in 2012. Returned to Reading in the summer of 2014 but was released at the end of last season following an unproductive loan spell at Bristol City where he managed only four substitute appearances in three months.
Post verdict: A very similar player to Taylor in terms of stature and skill. Seems to have lost his goal-scoring mojo in recent seasons but a drop back to League One and working under an expert man-manager in Darrell Clarke may provide the re-invigorating platform on which Cox could excel.

    Signings...
Expect news next week on new signings. Today a lot of players around the country have their contracts ending. Players would be doing what Matty Taylor has been doing, biding their time waiting until the end of their contract to make a decision on where they want to go next. DC has been talking to players but he wont be the pnly manager in discussions with them. Also DC said he wanted 4 or 5 new players IF all our current players sign new deals. Well they all have apart from Parkes and maybe Taylor. If Taylor goes like Parkes then that will be 6 or 7 new players. We have already signed 2 players. We are in deep talks with Swansea over McBurnie and that should be finalised next week (season long loan). I think (just my opinon) that DC has a playing budget but is waiting on Taylor. Taylor has been offered a good chunk of the budget. If Taylor goes then DC knows what he got to use on future new signings. If Taylor stays then DC knows he will be limited on the remaining budget. I would be surprised if DC got a list of players to sign with what budget he got left if Taylor stays and another list of players to sign with more budget to use if Taylor goes.

    New stadium...
I wouldnt be surprised if Brexit has put a dent in UWE. It could effect what investment was previously agreed (can these investors still afford what they said they would contribute?) and costs of the stadium build which would have gone up as the build industry has been hot hard in the markets since Brexit happened. What we do know is we have a deadline of sometime in October. For UWE to carry on with us, we need to start building the car park at UWE at sometime in October. If that doesnt go ahead then its very doubtful that UWE will go ahead. The markets are improving so I guess if we are still committed to UWE ourselves then the timing has to be right financially. Like I said, markets are improving since last week. The money that got wiped out has now been fully recovered. But the uncertainty with who the leader will be and what they will do with the countries finances would be the market very unpredictable. Wael knows the finance sector very very very well seeing that he is a banking investor himself. He knows what he is doing <ok>

Relax and give me a kiss <smooch><laugh>

I was very impressed with Lyle Taylor when he played at the Mem, Simon Cox is on the list of players released that you put on under the thread of that name. I would love to see Lyle Taylor here next season, Luke James was one of those players who always seemed to play well against us and would be a good signing for with DC to I think get the best out of him
I would rather DC took his time and got the right players in than rushing into making signings that were not up to standard, if we can persuade Swansea to let and McBurnie to come here next season then I think that would be a very good signing for us

Read in the press that Oxford would accept £3 million for Roofe what's the chance of the new board shelling out that sort of money do you reckon
