No he won't, he scored 1 goal and got 1 assist last season. His finishing was truly abysmal , he had 81 shots over the last 2 seasons. He gets into some good positions but then wastes the chance. Unless some miraculously transformation infront of goal occurs we still desperately need a proper goalscorer. We couldn't offload Hammelaenen to anyone last season until near the end of the season, I'm sure we'll be trying to get rid of him again so we really need a back up for Paal as there's no one in the squad. Trying to get the Millwall right back as a starter instead of Adomah is good but they want 650k for him and in 2 bids we've only offered half of that plus the lad supports Millwall. These reinforcements are pivotal for the season, as currently we have no cover apart from Kakay and the Finn.
I think today shows we have a team....but not a squad. I hope we can work on that ( but to be honest that is why we failed last year... if we had had a team that could play like the first team did in the first part of the season we would be in the Premier League now)
On paper we had a stronger looking squad last season than we currently do . A few injuries in defence and up top and we'll be in serious ****.
That squad again looks as though we have a first team...but the squad behind them is not of the same level. We have no real right back. We have one left back We have disinterested (dykes and bonne) and not really up to it (Kelman) no9. The only out and out killer winger we have is Shodipo ( well I am hoping)...who may well come good this year...but as we have seen before with BOS, they cannot do it twice a week for 30 weeks. I am sure we will get a couple more loans in... But we do need a right back ? From Millwall??
Sounds like MB is keen for Bonne to step up this season (appears to have been some selective journalism about his interest in staying). Pivotal season for Dykes. Definite gaps to fill as you point out Beth. Interested to see what support Les gives him. Need a couple more shrewd signings and a couple of loans in for sure.
No Bettache, no Sinclair Armstrong. Injured maybe? Thought Betrache was the next cab off the rank at one point.
I’d be a bit disappointed not to be at the training camp if I was Sinclair Armstrong. Perhaps all the hype is a bit too much for the stage he is at right now.
Armstrong is in the under 23's squad apparently. How he can be left out and Kelman taken, is a joke imo. Kelman is Scottish league 1 standard, we should at least be giving Armstrong a chance to see if he's ready or not. Disappointing
I don’t think we will learn about readiness for the championship against German third tier opposition. They really aren’t very good. Perhaps his coaches know enough about Armstrong to know that he isn’t ready, or won’t benefit, from going.
But we already know that Hamalainen is utter turd and that Kelman is not Championship level and probably Kakay too, and they are all going. At least Armstrong has the potential to be decent, very strange call in my eyes.
And Dillon De Silva played the second half, and had a few outings on the bench with the first team last season. My mate at the club says he's going to be brilliant once he's matured a bit....at least these boys are getting game time, and I'm sure Beale is keeping tabs on what is going on with our younger squads
At risk of sounding really thick I know but can under 23 squad players step up to first team squad during the season whenever needed or deserved? I've totally lost track of rules
95% sure they can. Everyone at the club knows that Kelman and Nico ain't Championship standard so I'd hope Armstrong gers his chance. We desperately need 2 fullbacks and a goalscorer
U23 are not " counted" in the Championship squad ( is it still 23 or 25)..but can step up and play any time they are asked to. I hope to see Armstrong begin to play a few minutes here and there this year
