Your remarks are valid Robbie, but this game mattered far more to the Terriers after their 7-0 humiliation. Pukki did well after only a few days training and Pierre Lees-Melou put on a master-class next to the also excellent Rupp. DF had this to say: “I enjoyed the performance (from Pierre) as well. He has shown from day one his experience, his quality, his calmness on the ball,” said the City chief. He is also competitive. He can do that side as well. He played a slightly deeper role in midfield and he fulfilled all my expectations. He is already an integral member of my squad. A good step forward. Our most difficult opponent, definitely the sharpest team we have played. I know the last time we met them we were there with a pretty decisive result so they were, I am sure, greedy to show something. A good first half, a great goal from Teemu, we could have scored a few more. Second half we made some changes and changed the base formation and lost a bit of control. We are missing some key players. I wanted to see a bit of steel so it is important we return to the changing room with a clean sheet.”
Remarkably, considering that game was 4 months ago, Huddersfield only had 4/11 of the same starters today as that game, with only a further 2 players in today's 22-man squad in the squad in April. For NCFC, 5/11 of the starting XI was the same (Krul, Omobamidele, Dowell, Cantwell Pukki), with Aarons, Hugill, Onel, Placheta in both squads.
Re. the opening goal, the "credits" above the video should really read "Bali -- Teemu --Todd -- Lukas -- Teemu" since it was Teemu who put Todd away and then motored forward to finish the move. On that showing the Pukki party looks good to start on time (c.v.)
I was surprised by the pace that Rupp showed in that break, then choosing the perfect moment to play the through ball to Pukki - so perhaps a new facilitator supreme and at least part of the solution after Emi's departure. This, alongside Lees-Melou's contribution from a deeper role gives me more confidence about our chances this time and we have yet to see what Gilmour and Rashica can add to our play. As DH pointed out, Milot will probably only come into his own when we're facing teams trying to dominate possession, where his counter-attacking skills can be used to good effect.
Having PLM will contribute massively to that also. It's no good having pace and finishing ability up front if there's no-one to deliver the over- or through-the defence pass. Placheta will tell you that; his international teammates tend to supply him with better ball than his club ones have done so far. Gilmour can hit that type of ball too. Emi, IMO, tended to focus almost exclusively on putting Pukki through.
I wonder whether Adshead might break into the senior squad this season. He's done well in his sub appearances with the senior squad friendlies, and scoring a brace against Boston will help as well. Rob Nizet is another who's caught the eye and then there's Tomlinson at CB as well
Probably part of the arrangement with Chesterfield FC, in whoseTechnique Stadium the match is being played. I don't begrudge the charge given the generally parlous state of lower league clubs (Chesterfield are owned by their Supporters' Trust and currently play in the National League).
Coventry are a great example of a once great team selling out to asset stripping hedge fund bastards and destroying their club . If any of the absorbant £10 fee went to them it would be very disappointing
