That bench is so thin again. No Rashica, Mumba, Placheta, Hernandez, Hugill, Hanley...

I wonder how much of that is Covid, and how much is players being on the way out (e.g. Hugill.)
I read that 10 players were infected

Interesting that Rupp is the advanced midfielder apparently, rather than PLM.

According to PinkUn Cantwell misses out because of a slight ankle knock and they don’t want to risk him.
The rest of the missing players are still in quarantine until Monday.

Villa have a pissed off fan base and £100m burning a hole in their pocket .

I'm guessing Cantwell is looking to triple his wages

PLM limping before half time after taking a couple of hard tackles.

He's been our best player in pre season .
Disgraceful from Newcastle in an exhibition

That's the Prem. Every year there are about ten teams who are desperate not to dragged into a relegation struggle - it's all they have to live for. Newcastle are one of those teams and they will do whatever it takes to keep their heads above water.

Paddy Davitt:

"Big advs in this [HASHTAG]#ncfc[/HASHTAG] set up is the advanced positions Aarons and Giannoulis can take up to provide the width. With Rupp and Dowell around Idah a lot of bodies in the final third
Disadv is susceptibility to quick [HASHTAG]#nufc[/HASHTAG] turnovers. The [HASHTAG]#ncfc[/HASHTAG] defensive 3 have been exposed at times
Defensively City have been decent, although PLM and Gilmour don't really offer proper defensive protection in the middle, but Newcastle generally using their wing-backs."

We should send in some towels that our covid sufferers have sneezed over into the toon dressing room then

Exchange on the Pink'Un:

Johannes : After watching the first half, noting the players missing, what position is our biggest transfer need right now?

Dave Freezer:

"A centre-back and another forward option, but I'd still like to see a recognised defensive midfielder added too, need another full-back too.

Think DF is still experimenting. Could also be due to Hanley not being available or perhaps an adjustment to counter Newcastle's style of play. More about getting match fitness and Sørensen could be coming on around 60 minutes.
