Disappointing to lose, but a much better 2nd half.

 

For all of the talk about this just being a friendly and a way to get back to fitness, that we are a week away from the start of the season and two Championship sides reportedly outplayed our first team is really worrying.

Did we at least play a new formation or something like that?

 

Looked more 4-3-3 to me, with Ulloa down the middle and Musa and Mahrez out wide. King, James and Iborra in midfield. I was disappointed with Iborra to be honest, but hope it's because he is still settling in.

 

Don't think Shakespeare was too happy with the challenge from Benalouane tonight. Told him if he doesn't learn from it, he won't be involved!!

Shakey was visibly pissed off by what was a quite frankly a reckless red card challenge, was pulled off instantly to avoid getting carded. This is why he has to be a backup at best next year, he needs to be in the role Wasyl was last season.

Musa put himself about again in a position he was more used to (was playing more as an inside forward), was actually quite impressed with Maguire and Iborra who certainly have the vision to pick a decent forward pass. James has shown enough for me to take Kings place on the bench. Chilwell and Gray played well too.

Think we should have had Slim up front with that formation, but will probably get minutes on friday.
