dai if you believe that there is no thought that goes in to pre season then you are mistaken. Even from the smaller clubs, they build each games intensity so they are ready for the start of the season. Whilst the results arent important picking the right oposition is. So who ever told you it isnt I'd ignore them.
I can only say what i was told about Pre season from the people who actually do it. I cant say it any other way...
