According to this https://twitter.com/NorwichCityFC it's a bit of lively 'friendly' with Bastia creating the better chances. In the first half they hit the post and had a goal disallowed. We on the other hand have failed to create any meaningful chances. Hmmm... Sound familiar?

That's a pretty negative read of it, CC. Paddy Davitt has said throughout that City have been the better team. Their 'goal' was well offside and they hit the post with a 25 yard effort.

Maybe it is slightly negative, mate. But despite being the better side we don't appear to have created anything which was also a big problem last season. Things may change for the better, and I hope they do. I like the fact that both teams are up for it though. We need a competitive game.

Considering that we were missing Ruddy, Olsson, Martin, Tettey, RvW, Lafferty and Grabban, a 1-1 draw against a good Ligue 1 team is a pretty good outcome, IMO. Good to see both Murphys and Loza get good game time and for Jacob to be the co-hero with goalscorer Pilks. Early days CC, and still two more pre-season games before the season even starts ffs.

Pilks seems to be up for it. He's gotten a goal every time he's played. We really missed his threat coming in from the wings last season.

Adams also said Wes is happy and is staying. Looks like he will be important this year.

Really good news. Perhaps a CAM isn't as far up Neyul's wish list as some supporters.

I know a CB has been mentioned, but I haven't seen us even linked to one.

Must be a bit of money to spend you'd have thought.

Missing Fer will probably be permanent Bath......

Good that Wes might be staying - despite his spats last season, his experience and nous could be important this coming term.

Well maybe but currently he's our player and you would assume he would be replaced if the money was good enough.

Yeah been frustrating, however we did finally get a proper competitive run out and although it sounded like we faded a bit in the second half we held our own. Also hard to dispute the quality or drive of our opponents this time.

    Tidy finish too.

Yes, Fer should command a decent fee and added to the £7M for Snoddy, should give plenty in the kitty to buy a quality replacement.

Has anyone else noticed that Wolves play Celta Vigo the day after we do. Probably a chance to get different players out but in interesting quirk which will allow us to compare ourselves to wolves ahead of the start of the season.

Excellent article, JR, summing things up very well. There are those who say little good about Adams because he's bound to 'go the way of Gunn'. They forget, or ignore, other examples like Ken Brown and Dave Stringer who both succeeded well in spite of little previous experience. They also ignore the hard work going on in pre-season and the new style of play based on pace, up tempo passing and penetration of opposing defenses. The goal against Bastia was a good example, with Whittaker's raking cross field diagonal pass to the feet of Jacob Murphy who then ran at the defence with pace and guile before unleashing a 'thunderbolt' which deflected to a well positioned Pilks who deftly placed the ball in the bottom left corner. Hopefully, it is an encouraging sign of things to come.

Yeah, that is strange. They've explained everyone's absence except his.

Wouldn't have thought West Ham were back in for him after they've signed Creswell. Will have to wait and see what NA has to say about it I guess.
