GOAL! O'Nien makes it 2-0 Watmore did really well down the right flank then after being played in by Chris Maguire. The ball deflected off a defender and O'Nien was there to smash it home. Sunderland lead 2-0 here. Chance! Wide from Embleton Half volley sent wide. Should have scored. Big chance. Good build-up play from O'Nien on the right wing, Sunderland are playing the same wing-back system. Will that be how they start the new season? Time will tell.
Sunderland's second half line-up Patterson, O’Nien, Bainbridge, Flanagan, Baldwin, Hume, Watmore, Leadbitter, Embleton,Maguire, Grigg Formation Same formation as before, O’Nien and Hume at wing-back, Embleton alongside Leadbitter in central midfield and Watmore (right) and Maguire (left) playing as inside-forwards
It was. Hopefully he can get it right, we avoid a lot of injuries and we see fast flowing attacking footy with lots n lots of goals.
SAFC have continued their solid display well into the second half. The changes Ross made at the break have allowed the rest of the squad to get minutes in the tank with O'Nien and Watmore standing out. Tom Flanagan has also done well; with Leadbitter doing well in the middle with the captain's armband.
It's all over at Mariners Park with a goal in either half enough for SAFC to start their pre-season campaign with a win. Ethan Robson set the Lads on their way, before Luke O'NIen doubled that lead in a positive display. please log in to view this image
Good start, clean sheet and two goals from mid-field, would be nice to see strikers find their shooting boots.
