Interesting that Koeman said something along the lines of 'the player is making it a difficult situation.' Wonder whether they will eventually give in.
He won't be off to Spurs unless they rethink their £10m offer. lol. I can't see Levy offerinf £25m+
Katharina Liebherr has said she is not yet mentally prepared to pay Morgan Schneiderlin his wages in light of recent events...
We can't give in to Morgan...every player would reckon they could move on a whim if we did. We sit it out....what will Morgan do come September 1st...give up playing football. I think money wasted on him would be worth it to look strong if a similar situation occurred again.
Ronald Koeman's pre-Bayer Leverkusen press conference: - We are very happy that José has signed a three-year deal - We like to keep the good and experienced players - José is the captain of the team - Kelvin is the captain of the club - I am very pleased with this news - We are keeping our ambition and philosophy - We lost some good players - We're doing a little bit of rebuilding - We said okay, enough now, we have to bring new players in - We like to keep the remaining good ones in the squad - That's a signal to everyone - We are very happy about the performances and the personality of José - We spoke to Morgan this morning - The situation is difficult - Only because the player makes it difficult - Our chairman also spoke to Morgan with me this morning - The situation has still not changed - We told him we will not sell him - He must accept that - He says he isn't mentally prepared for tomorrow's game - I can understand that - But we said, okay have a weekend off and Monday morning we have training - We then have one week until Liverpool - You will continue as a football player of Southampton - I like him, I want him to stay - He's a very good player, a key player - The club has done a great job with the new players - But now we must prepare for Liverpool - I don't say anything about Forster - If we have a new player, we will announce it - We are interested in Florin Gardos - Until now, I've not been told that he has signed it yet - But yes we do have interest in the player - Marcos Rojo is also on the list, yes - It's not that I say we want 1, 2, or 3 players - We need more competition - I am very happy with the squad until now - But you know, the season is long and we need more players - We need more players on the right level - We need real competition for everyone - So to do that, we will bring in more players
José Fonte's pre-Bayer Leverkusen press conference: - First of all, yes I am very excited to be signing this new contract - Another three years - This is where I feel at home - I have been very successful in this club for the last five years - It was an easy decision - What made me sign? - Firstly, we signed a very good manager - Second, the fans - they show love to me and I have a very good relationship with them - Third, I believe we have quality in the team and with a few additions we can do the same or even better - I can promise that everyone in our squad will be working 110% to be better - It's very simple, Schneiderlin is one of the best midfielders in the league - As a team-mate, I always want him in front of me - He has more interceptions than anyone else - He has more tackles than anyone else - He runs miles - He is a great player - As the manager has said, it's a difficult situation - As team-mates, we want him in the team - We will do everything to make him feel happy and him to want to be here - We want him to achieve great things with us - Dejan was great - We had a lot of clean sheets and a great understanding - He makes his own decisions - I cannot criticise - He made his decision - I look forward to the new chapter - Now, I have been playing with Maya and Jos - I know them both well - I have full confidence in both of them - When you see your best mates go, after five years of successes together, it's hard to see them go - But in a way you are happy for them, they go to play in the Champions League, some of them - They've signed for very good clubs - But we have to keep moving forward - We are still a great club - As I said, I believe we have enough quality to have another great season - We need to look forward - We wish them well, apart from when we play them - We will keep doing everything to keep moving Southampton forward
I'd let Morgan go. BUT not to Spurs. That will show whether he just wants out or whether he wants to be back with Pochetino (is that how you spekk it, I've forgotten!).
He's striking and yes we'll still be paying him. PFA rules don't give the club any help in this kind of situation, he can pretty much **** around with impunity. Problem is, Spurs know the pressure is on, so there's no chance of them offering anywhere near the asking price any time soon.
We may still have to pay Morgan, but it would be his basic wage (more than any of us could dream of) and not include bonuses. We would be paid if we claimed some mental illness, but no one could get away with it forever.
